    I think keeping the whole match uncut is the best way. The viewer can relate more to what happens when he has the whole picture.

    Yeah, 6:40 the game is over and it shows it was a 14:52 long game so we missed 8 minutes of it, makes about as much sense as watching Lord of the Rings and skipping more than half of it from random places, so you can only show the battles scenes, I like the battle scenes but the how and why is all missing.... please make a normal version and rename this highlights!

    i usually have this run in the background and look over at the other screen when it sounds interesting so i don't mind the longer unedited format. the only issue i have with "highlight only" edits is that it can be quite jarring when the cuts happen if it's not obvious.

    I think its fair if you want to try new things considering how long youve been at this, but personally I dont think this is the right way to go about it - to me, every part of the match is as important as the rest, and by removing parts of it here and there it not only disrupts the pacing and makes it harder to follow, but also makes it much more difficult to get immersed in the matches and feel any sense of tension or excitement when they are shortened down and so much more rapid fire its as if you were reading a book, but only read one or two lines on every page - much harder to get invested Also, I feel that the "quiet" moments are quite valuable, in any form of sport or media as a whole - they give the viewer a moment to breath, speculate and observe, and provide an opportunity to not only build a sense of tension, but also allow the caster to chime in and provide some commentary beyond just describing what is happening on the screen, letting some of their personality shine through or imparting knowledge, or whatever it may be the loss of much of this "quiet" time would be the loss of many of the opportunities for you to be able to express yourself in these videos, and i think for many of us that would definitely be a downgrade, since atleast personally, i always enjoy listening to what you have to say - whether that be game knowledge, information about the players, or even just jokes or random small talk at the end of the day, we're all here for c&c and sybert - i dont think having less of either of these things in a given video is what many of us want all that being said though, as i said youve been doing this for so long so i really feel you should be allowed to experiment and try new stuff, so if you really are interested in this format, you can keep it up and maybe find a balance that perhaps many of us can still enjoy. if nothing else, uploading the original unedited cut as a separate video for those of us who prefer that format would surely please both parties whilst still allowing you the ability to try new formats as you wish in separate uploads regardless, love your content sybert, and thanks for giving us c&c fans so much material to watch and enjoy, regardless of the format it may take 👋

    The thing with rts game matches is that they needed context on how things got to the point they are, so when 2 minutes in and then suddenly mcv got destroyed leaves me confused of what was just happened. If you wanna make highlight edit style i suggest something like big play of different matches compilation, for example: mothership call base wipe, heroic harvester

    I thought the editing style was an april fool's joke, but it came out on the second of april. At the very least, there has to be some transition or context given for the situations that are shown. I don't know what state the game is in, I can't take all the information in and evaluate what is happening in the clip. Which of the players is in the economically better position at this very moment, are there reinforcements coming, are they attacking, retreating, defending, is this a good army for the current state of the game? Too many questions that are relevant to forming a more overall picture of what is being shown. It's not impossible to answer these questions, but it takes time and focus.

    I agree with the people that prefer to have the matches be un-edited. Watching highlights only makes it kinda hard to follow since we viewers lose so much context and buildup to the engagements that happen in a match. We also don't really get a reason to care about the matches because there isn't really any investment in the actions taken in the matches because all we see are the important snippets. It isn't unwatchable, I think it would require some more refining, because in this video we basically get a bunch of engagements or quick peeks at whatever interesting development happens in a match, then instantly cut to the next one, stay for a few seconds, move to the next. Then the match is suddenly over, and then we move to the next thing that happens. It's kinda too quick? Like the cuts don't help in making it clear what happens when without taking a moment to internalize that hey, this is a new match, things are starting from the beginning again. It's worse when we also don't have information on who is playing what. I know that you probably spend a lot of time watching replays to cast and record, and that this format would let you put content out a lot easier, but as I mentioned above, it probably needs a lot more work to find a proper format for the highlights, as right now the format is very rough.

    Thanks for covering these great matches and providing coverage of KW in general. While I appreciate the experimentation because that can lead to better casting, but in this case would you cover these matches uncut, please? I really appreciate being able to follow the build orders right from the start and the moment by moment tactics and decisions made by these incredible players. Skipping through the match makes it harder to follow what is happening and many interesting connecting action points are missed. KW matches are incredibily fast with few, if any, moments not filled with action. Highlights work for traditional sports, but definately less so for e-sports. Keep up the brilliant casting!

    Dustbowl is such a deceptively narrow map to play on. Its flat open terrain is merely a funnel that slowly cull players into the center and can become a double-edged sword too depending on their direction of expansion. You can either love or hate the map depending on which side you're on.

I get the idea behind this is to make a cut of only interesting events in a match, but if you cut it down to only the big fights most people will not be able to follow along the sequence of events in each match.

  • @Moewenfels

    So first off i LOVE experiments. I think its always a good idea to think about formats and how to change it up and improve things. The highlight thing sounds definitely good, but as others already commented the timeskips are pretty jarring. And to put that into more words: Its hard to actually understand HOW the whole match develops. Its like watching a game where every single battle happens at once. I get that RTS matches can sometimes have a lot of downtime when nobody is harassing and just teching and expanding. But maybe a indicator of a timeskip happening would be helpful to understand - ok, this is later on now - WHAT that looks like? No idea. I'm not well versed with editing and i'm not sure what would be noticable enough and whats already TOO much. As others also have said i very much like the longform uncut, commented format but i also have a lot of time on my hands. Its fun to see how everything develops and changes over the run of a match. I wonder if different C&C titles need an edited format in different ways. Like i personally catch myself zoning out in many of the big maps of Red Alert 3. That seems to bog down to a lot of fights that dont go anywhere while theyre trying to hoard the whole map instead of ending the game. Maybe i just LIKE Kanes Wrath a lot more, but i seldom get bored watching those. I'll watch the rest, maybe i get another idea, but i say continue this experiment! Lets see where it goes!

  • @Moewenfels

    @Moewenfels

    One thing i'm already doing to combat my "Skip confusion" is having an eye on the gametimer. When i know its around 3 minutes and i seem to notice a skip i check the clock and now its 5 minutes and i know this is further on with not much happening. Maybe a easier to read, bigger gametimer would be useful for viewers? Maybe it having a little "pulse" animation thats easy to notice if youre eyeing for it would be a decent indicator of a time skip.

  • @Moewenfels

    @Moewenfels

    4 ай бұрын

    I guess this might also be a discussion of "build-up" vs "payoff" Where the slower parts of a game really give you time to breathe and when it gets exciting again and shit is happening, its so much more impactful. The ebb and flow of the game might be important, instead of having only flow.

  • @Moewenfels

    @Moewenfels

    4 ай бұрын

    Its not all negative tho, its kinda cool to see so much games so quickly. I guess whatever WE dont see with those skips, the kinda story every match tells just has to be told by Sybert. Maybe its also just a bit unusual that i gotta focus 100% now all the time without some downtimes.

  • @Moewenfels

    @Moewenfels

    4 ай бұрын

    As also others said it does take away the ability to just run the video, listen to it, maybe do some stuff, play games or even work and just tab back in when shit hits the fan. I did like to watch it that way, but i'm not averse to try something new. I'm 35 minutes in and it does get kinda exhausting to be honest :D But i can just pick it up back whenever if needed.

  • @Moewenfels

    @Moewenfels

    I wonder what the production seems like. If Sybert commented 100% of those matches, but then cut them down to bunch up the action, one COULD argue that might be lost revenue? Like people are probably fine watching the full length tournament and that would amount to several hours of videos for YT bucks. But Sybert is the one with the video stats and has to know whats worth it or not.

  • @rubrub3104
    @rubrub31044 ай бұрын

    I dont mind either formats. As someone who had watched your videos for years and can understand to some degree the skips with some guesswork on my behalf, this might not be easy to follow for those who are new to your channel or for any other reason.

  • @notarealfirstnamenotareall746

    Making cut videos that focus on all the most active parts of the game isnt a bad idea. If you want to post videos like this then you can make them into short videos that would actually help push this gameplay to people who wouldnt watch a full match. It might get more people interested in CnC. I do believe though that most of your current viewers would really like to see the whole matches.

    After watching further into this it's painful with this highlights thing... it no longer feels like watching games in a series at all to me, it's just watching random clips of some battles where people start with tier 3, it's WAY WORSE than your usual videos, I love watching all your Kane's Wrath games but so far this one is easily my least favorite because frankly you ruined each game by cutting out the meat and just trying to feed us the sweets. Please release the real games from this series and never do this format again or do it after the good ones and title it highlights, I might re-watch the highlights but only seeing the highlights or seeing them first is not what made me a fan of your content that watches all your videos, this is a huge turnoff! Does anyone know if there is anyone else casting these tournaments with the whole games? I Love Kane's Wrath and came here to see Kane's Wrath matches not highlights not labeled highlights, I Don't mean to be a jerk but this is incredibly disappointing, I was so excited to see this but now I can't even see the games just random battles without any context or build up, BRING BACK THE GAMES!!!

    I Always like your videos first and then watch them but I am sorry sir, I had to change that to a dislike on this one, you need to get the message that highlights without being titled such is no replacement for your usually great videos! Do you ever watch Movies or TV Shows? do you skip minutes 1-5, 8, 10-13, 16, 18, and then watch the end on a 22 minute show? because that is what you have done to these beautiful Games. The further into this video I get the more frustrated I get and wish I could see the games, the whole games.... every minute! I am sure some noobish games can have lots of real dead time but that is not these games.
