I'd love it. None of them were Brothtails so it's an overall win. Was really cool to see how the red white and merry got utilized in a way to elevate it. You'd hope there's more out there like that. Or there's things like Mt. Olive's pickle cocktails.

Interesting format, it could be interesting expanding on the ones with potential but it's cool seeing that being studied to reach the broader crowd they're all "yeah, ok, not great not bad". A bit of context for the Campari drink: I don't know if it's just an Italian thing, but in the default Christmas baskets there are, almost always, some dried figs. In general they're pretty common around Christmas so I get why they went for that association

I once contemplated writing a country song entitled :"I'll drink it because I paid for it!" based on a drinking experience involving a coffee with Triple Sec on a blizzardy night in Ohio. There were, in fact, people riding snow mobiles in the streets, inside city limits, and my friend and I staggered both to and from the establishment through feet of snow. If ever there were a justification for that song, these drinks cover it.

@@7531monkey I mean, condensed milk is also milk that's had 60% of its liquid volume boiled away. Given that milk is a whole lot of proteins (which coagulate) and sugars, it probably would still turn relatively syrupy even without the sugar. The sugar is predominantly a preservative, as sugar typically doesn't spoil/mold/etc. very easily. It's why sweetened condensed milk has a shelf life just this side of forever.

Fun fact about Jameson Whiskey: In 1886, James Sligo Jameson, the then heir to the Jameson family, went on an expedition with Henry Morton Stanley (The murderer- I mean con-man- I mean explorer who "found" Dr. Livingstone and helped King Leopold of Belgium take over and massacre the Congo) to Sudan. While on this trip he supposedly bought a 10 year old slave girl and then paid a bunch of cannibals to let him watch them eat her. Then he died of fever. Obviously we don't know for certain that this actually happened (The cannibal thing, he definitely died) but like, if the story is believable enough to still be known almost a century and a half later...

It's so funny when it comes to "christmassy" flavors around the world. Cranberries isn't very associated with christmas in Sweden. While Figs, dates, oranges and obviously all the christmas spices like cloves, cinnamon etc makes up the greater picture. I guess it has to do with what was shipped before we had supermarkets with daily or weekly shipments of fruits and greens. Like oranges, clementines and most other citrus fruits usually came around when the harvesting seasons were and that happened to be around christmas for us in northern Europe, while we have lingon berries (sort of cranberries), blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries apples and pears pretty much everywhere but during winter and spring.

Another good Christmas cosmopolitan is the Santa Clausmopolitain. Rim a martini glass with sugar. Mix 1 oz gin, 1.5oz pure cranberry juice, .5 oz Cointreau, juice from half a lime, and shake with a sprig of fresh rosemary in the shaker. Really balanced.

I’ve never tried an immersion blender with ice, but I use my regular blender a lot less now. If you’re going for a really fine purée you might need a proper blender, but for surprisingly many things an immersion blender is sufficient and much easier to clean.

As a resident of the Midwest, the "CARR-muhl" martini honestly doesn't look too bad if it were maybe cut with some other flavors. Replacing the butterscotch schnapps with some creme de cacao might be a first step, and rimming the glass with the caramel sauce instead of just plopping it into the bottom of the glass probably would have also helped. Helen would probably still get pretty ripshit on them, though...RIP Helen. Also: as someone who purposefully drinks 100% cranberry juice (and not the Ocean Spray shit, the actual good stuff that can be used as floor wax stripper), that extra-tart Cosmo is properly exciting.
