LOL Welcome back! Technology is SO fun sometimes isn't it?! Mac recently updated their IOS and after I updated I wasn't able to send things from my phone to my Mac which I have done about a billion times. Still waiting for them to fix it! So frustrating!

Try using domed blending foam makes it much easier.

I started with distress oxides and Bristol strathmore smooth paper. This combo is the easiest to blend. The type of cardstock you use makes a difference. It definitely is lots of practice. I’m not that good but I keep at it. You also can distress your backgrounds if you are not happy with them to make them useable.

It definitely takes time to find your combo of inks, cardstock etc that make it easier to get those smooth blends! For me the combo is Hammermill cardstock, Distress Oxide Inks (they are really just creamier and make it easier to avoid harsh lines and Waffle Flower Grip Mats. The Grip Mats holding everything in place were a game changer for me!

I agree for straight blending that I find the domed foam blenders so much easier to get smooth blends. I don't use them with stencils as much because I feel like the foam gets caught on some of the stencil openings, but definitely for smooth blended backgrounds they are a huge help!

Agree! Distress Oxides are just creamier and easier to blend! You can use any super smooth cardstock. Bristol is great, but the Hammermill works just as well and you can get a whole ream!
