Christmas Candylane Review, Hersheypark | Northeast's Best Christmas Event?

Christmas Candylane is the winter season at Hersheypark. The park has over 40 rides open, including their newest roller coasters in Wildcat's Revenge and Candymonium. And the park also has stunning lights and some sweet treats. Does all this make it the best Christmas event in the northeast? Find out in this review.

In past years, I didn't bother with Candylane, but Wildcat's Revenge changed that for me.

I liked the event in the past with Candymonium, but I just had to make sure wind was not forecasted.

You had me at "Toe-tapping". I'm a huge Kennywood and King's Island Drone and they run just one coaster I believe during their holiday events - Jack Rabbit and Timbers. I am very impressed with the coaster roster available.

They definitely have more coasters than those parks!

I went there on December 9 (Saturday), my first visit there since Wildcat’s Revenge opened. Unfortunately Wildcat’s Revenge was closed the entire day due to “technical issues”. The park also felt swamped - Candymonium was 60-90+ minutes, the Chocolate Ride was 60 minutes, many of the kids rides were 20+ minutes, even the kissing tower was 45 minutes. Food lines weren’t bad at least, but the hot chocolate we got was pretty mediocre, worse than Swiss Miss. Maybe it’s just bad luck, but it’s seemed like every time I’ve gone over the past few years it’s been like that - incredibly crowded, coasters or other rides being down, etc. I’ve been going since the 90s, and have lots of good memories, but wish they would figure out a way to even out crowds or at least have a more predicable ride operation schedule.

I was there the same day. Using the touring plan I mentioned at the start, we didn't have to wait more than 20 minutes. We went to Candymonium around 4 and it was a 15-20 min wait. It was unfortunate Wildcat was down for a lift issue, but it has since reopened.

@@CanobieCoasterAh that’s funny. We had to leave around 5, and I looked at the Candymonium sign from the merry go round, but thought it said 60. I also noticed that the wait times in the app sometimes were out of date with the times posted at the ride. A few other notes… - Agree about monorail early. Would also recommend going on Cocoa Cruiser early, wait times seem to build up more than summer (I assume because trailblazer is closed). - I saw The Claw running - We went to Chocolate World parking (around 12:15) and they were routing everyone into an adjacent section of the general parking lot for free. Seems like a hole that will get plugged in the future, but for now maybe another way to avoid the 25 fee

I decided to visit candylane for my first time this year due to Wildcat and that ride helped carry my experience during this event. I prefer it to all the great adventure holiday in the park attractions. That being said they both have many differences and it isn't easy to pick which is better.

Thanks for the review! I think I might try this event next year! The only thing I take issue with is calling Candymonium one of the best B&M hypers-it just doesn’t come close.

I think, with the removal of Superman Ultimate Flight and Green Lantern on the Holiday In The Park operating schedule, Hershey Park’s Candylane is almost on-par with Great Adventure’s Holiday In The Park

Candylane is great if you don't think too hard about what isn't open. The ride lineup at Candylane is approxamately comprable to Silver Dollar City year round, including December (SDC in December has a better top 3 but Wildcat's Revenge is the best coaster between the events). If I were talking any other park, that would be a big compliment to be compared to SDC's coaster lineup. But when you're Hersheypark that's a signifigant downgrade.

I prefer Outlaw Run to anything at Hershey in any season. But Hershey's lineup is so strong that half of it beats most parks.

What are lines like during candylane?

  • @CanobieCoaster

    @CanobieCoaster

    7 ай бұрын

I talk about that in the video. In short, lines can be an hour for a few rides like Candymonium, Laff Trakk, and Cupfusion if you go on a busy weekend. I have a touring plan that avoids most queues.

I miss the days this was free to get in and just pay for tickets as you ride. Wish they would go to a small fee to just walk around and enjoy the Christmas environment and then have ticket packages for wrist band to ride rides. But Hershey loves their money too much to do something like that

Hershey is definitely not the best Christmas event given the almost total lack of live entertainment and mediocre lights. A great Christmas event is much more than rides that can be found year round. Winterfests offers the best lights, activities and midway atmosphere with all of the seasonal characters. They have a good amount of live entertainment. The live entertainment is j mediocre but again Hershey has virtually none. Some of these lack transport rides which is points against them for Christmas but they are better all around events than Hershey. BGW offers the best live entertainment and better lights than Hershey. Plus a great all around ride lineup of coasters, flats and transport rides. This is probably the best all around Christmas event in the NE.

That's a fair point about the lack of live entertainment. Busch Gardens definitely does better in that area.
