Probably why there are so many devout religious people in track and field is because it is such a polite sport. You get a lane, or you get a place in the order and you don't have to steal the ball from anyone else or muscle them out of their position. Everyone just lines up and does their best. You don't even need to win. You can celebrate a personal best.
