My brother died from suicide on July 13, 2021 at the age of 19. He suffered bullying from the world because be was gay. He never came out to my family. Just know brother that while this world may be cruel, I will always keep your name in vein. You changed the world of hundreds. Hundreds came to your funeral and my life mission is now to make this world a better place. ❤️

Back then, in 2002, I was a 17 year's old gay-boy living in a small town somewhere in Poland. Shy of who I was, and afraid of who I will be. I was not a POP music fan neither of Christina. But when I saw this clip on TV I just froze down from outside and felt that I'm burning inside. Honestly! I was just watching the kissing couple and, believe me, or not, but that was a turning point in my life. I really started to think that I can believe that I'm beautiful, like those kissing guys, no matter what the others say. Thank u Christina for making my life easier. now I'm 35, out and proud, living with my partner and our 2 beloved dogs. And yes the love we share is really beautiful. Thank you!

Sometimes i think people don't give credit for the originality on CA's work, she had the balls to put an explicit, unapologetic gay kiss in this video and portrayed people who are hardly noticed/bullied in such a positive way. Even though she started out as a manufactured artist she has an "independent thinking" and doesn't always go with the flow, like working with Sia and Mark Ronson before they were everywhere. Love her.

@Lucas Pigliavento By copying Pink's sound do you mean recording a song writen by Linda Perry and colaborating with her? Well a lot of people did it too then, and the Britney stuff it was more of a record label thing, that's why I said she started out manufactured, I pointed out a few things showing why I think she's original, but if you want to be petty it's up to you.

I've been overweight almost my entire life and people still bully us because were slobs, pigs, gross, disgusting....I put weight on as a child to protect myself. I thought men wouldn't molest me as long as I were fat and ugly. Didn't work. I still feel like that ugly monster sometimes. Just like I did as a child. 😢

I thought this was a lovely song when it first came out but it’s only since my cousin passed away from anorexia that’s it’s become really meaningful to me . She was 22 and suffered with it for so long , she was self loathing to the extreme and it really made no difference how much we tried to tell her that she was beautiful she was lost to it long before she died - in a bubble all of her own . She was truly beautiful though , inside and out . ❤

I am teaching English in South Korea. I looked up the sign language (American) for this song and had my kids learn it. I wanted them to be able to say and SHOW that they are beautiful. There are so many plastic surgery industries in this country constantly telling my girls they aren't enough. This song, I hope, taught them that I think they are the most beautiful people I've met. I hope, to this day, they remember this.

At almost 60 years old, I have re-discovered this song and video. I'm a dude. A 'masculine' man. But over the course of my life, I have known each one of the characters depicted in this video. At times, I knew several people struggling with their place, and acceptance in this world. Now getting to be an "old" man - I feel so much more empathy. I've lived in a squalid room downtown. I have sisters that went through body-image issues. Punk friends who explained their reasons, and their individuality. Girls who had a tough time with bullying. I relate mostly with the skinny guy discovering weights. Not so much on the trans-thing, but I have become to have much more empathy. Fortunately I've stayed in touch with friends of varying life-experience. Nobody needs to record another song for me - as I'm main-stream. Lots of songs speak to me. But watching this reminds me of a time when so many "acceptance" issues were so much harder. Remember: You are beautiful, no matter what they say.

When this song was released, I was in my pre-teen years. I remember hearing from people at school that I was ugly, that the color of my skin didn't help me, they constantly called me ugly. I once declared myself to a girl I was in love with, she said she would never be with an ugly, black guy like me. I thought about taking my life more than once, I had severe depression and it took me many years to see myself as a beautiful person. This song has often been a great comfort I found when I wanted to take my own life. People are bad, they don't care if what they say will hurt someone, self-love has to come from ourselves.

This life is a trial. We don't all get the same challenges - but we all end up facing some kind of challenge. Not the same - but the challenges that the Lord chose for us to meet and overcome. I'm so glad that you've found support in your life. I've reached-certain cross-roads in my life, even though I had "all the advantages". It turns out that life isn't easy for most. A challenge and a trial for many. Empathy and (for me, religion,) can be a great help. People are usually "bad" because of insecurities in their own lives. I was an asshole when I was younger. It took a series of events to bring me down. I'm hoping that you've been able to meet those challenges. We will all meet again. My personal belief is that when we die - we'll all know one another, and understand our motivations for what we did, and how we treated one another. Most of us will be ashamed of something - but the grace of God and Jesus Christ will allow us to understand one another. I kind of have to believe this, since the alternative is unthinkable. I hope to meet you then. Your comment means something to me.

I heard this song for the first time when I was 14 and suffered from bullying at school. Now I’m 27 and suffered from mobbing in my favorite theater, where I spent many beautiful evenings since childhood, by regular visitors. They were puzzled as I visited it alone and sometimes 5 times per week and too young for their taste to really enjoy such stuff. This was my way of coping with serious depressive episode. I just felt safe there. Then the mob suspected I was there to seduce one member of the troupe and all ended in slut-shaming, fat-shaming etc. Then I remembered this song after several weeks of despair. Maybe, I will return and try to be secure and ignore those people. Just wanted to share my story. I hope nobody will ever lose one’s safe-space because of people’s idiocy and prejudice. (Sorry for mistakes, English is not my native language)

Dealing with topics such as feminism, self-confidence, and sexuality. A mixture of Rock, Soul, R&b, Pop, Hip-Hop, Latin, and Gospel. This album has got to be one of greatest albums of all time. I can't believe this is the demo, she recorded it ONCE and that was it. If you listen with headphones, you can hear little details most at the end, the voice layer of the song has little imperfections in the background, even in the first seconds she says "don't look at me" she told that to her friend watching her singing the song for the first time at Linda's studio, it was just a test and that's why Linda Perry kept it. There was no reason to overdone the track, because the song found beauty at the first try. This is the reason why they released the demo as the official single. This is the reason why this song will live for ever. This is the reason why we love Xtina. Beautiful.
