Christian Nationalists Are Taking Over This Idaho Town

Christian nationalism used to be viewed as an extremist, fringe ideology tucked into dark corners of the country. But over the past few years, it’s become part of mainstream politics - especially in Idaho. And one of the most popular leaders of the movement lives in the Gem State. Heath Druzin, host of the “Extremely American” podcast (www.boisestatepublicradio.org...) , is sharing how this movement is changing our democracy - both in Boise and around the country.

Boise has nothing to do with this and has an actual music scene. You can call Spokane a dump all you want, I haven't seen it since I was in grade school. But my city is beautiful and has smart, vibrant, and creative people. Every electrical box along the road has been painted in its own unique way. We love art here. We have nothing to do with christofascism. If you hate Boise, don't come here. You probably wouldn't appreciate watching bands like Built to Spill for free in someone's basement.

Boise is ultra squalid. Most people live in OLD trailers. Only about half the roads are paved. It's just all potatoes, everywhere. That's all people do. Grow potatoes and talk about them. Crime is worse than Baltimore. Most goes unreported, because the police don't care. The ghetto has no police presence at all. Mile after mile of homeless encampments. Used needles everwhere. And you NEED to be armed, because there are Mexican cartels watching your car the minute you cross the border.

These things were allowed up until about the 1990s. Who are the squatters? It's not that Christian nationalist have suddenly appeared that forces made them disappear all of a sudden and now the re-emergence is re-spun.

We don't dispute the separation of church and state, the issue is that the modern version isn't representative of what its historically meant. I'm what would be considered a Christian Nationalist who doesn't like Doug Wilson, but many of these complaints are pretty unfair. 1. The US government has an "Educational Empire". 2. The violence argument rings hollow given things like the Trans Day of Revenge; this type of language is increasing from both sides. And "violent" language is used in all political discourse and in the Bible. 3. The Jan 6th thing is hyper polarized just like the BLM protests. 4. Aren't you saying their worldview is evil and harmful to America? 5. The sexual assault stories are your best arguments, however that issue spans every organization that is related to children. The issue with the submission argument could be applied to any hierarchical structure.

I have no idea what most of your bullet points even mean. And I tried. However, there are many strong arguments against Christian dominionism, unless you want to throw out the Constitution and everything the founders said about religion. So don't call yourself a patriot if you're doing that. Fascism or support for a theocracy are all incompatible with proclaiming yourself a patriot.

How would you feel if all the Jews, or Muslims, in the country said “ours is the only real and correct religion, so we’re going to make it the National religion of the U.S. that everyone in the country must adhere to, and we’re going to teach only it to all your children in school in every class”?
