My secular music testimony: I have always been a social butterfly. Did cheer my whole life and have yelled acting goofy, doing dances in front of thousands in my cheer career. I graduate hs and continue working and going to college. Out of no where I get social anxiety, extreme paranoia, and insomnia. God put it on my heart that our tongues speak life and what we allow our eyes to see and ears to hear have impact. I realized singing those violent songs was speaking death over myself and hearing secular music was making an impact to my thought life. The same week I swapped to only Christian music I had 2 girls I’ve never seen before come up to me at work and ask to pray for me. In the cereal aisle the girl praying asks God to calm my anxiety, give me peace and comfort, even asks Him to give me a good nights rest tn. I was SHOOK. I knew God was showing me through them that He was hearing my prayers and seeing my struggles. After she finished the other girl looked at me and said “God showed me a vision of you singing Christian music in your car” The gasp I gusped😧. She then said “He wants you to continue to do that” Now I’m crying by the fruit loops at work. I told them my story and told them to continue to do what they do bc they make a difference. After that I had to take my 15min break because I was a wreckkkk. That was over 2 years ago and now I post a “Daily Concert” along with my Christian playlists to help expose people to different styles of Christian music.

I screenshot literally 30 min ago where I saw someone use the analogy saying refusing to pray because of your sins is like refusing to take a bath because you’re dirty. I was going to send it to someone in particular that has a legalistic view and believes completely that they’re too far from God and because of their sin that God won’t hear their prayers. So he refuses to pray. No coincidences! And! I was just thinking like an hour ago how much harder it is to talk to those we know well about the gospel, friends and family are the most defensive, especially when you bring up that they’re sinners, no matter how much in love we say it… but we still have to glorify Him and spread the truth, the way, the LIFE! God is GREAT, He is above everything. I need to pray and seek more fellow Christians to have as friends because I have very few people that believe in Him and they have a religious view instead of a personal relationship… And yes, it is ALL that deep. EVERYTHING is spiritual. ❤ keep spreading the gospel Maya! ✝️

I’m a wardrobe stylist that specializes in modest fashion and one thing I find discouraging is seeing Christian women shame each other on what their preferences of modesty should look like as if it’s a one size fits all. Modesty looks different on everyone. Individuality in the Lord is a beautiful thing 🧡 I love how you said you would never wear a turtle neck cause I’m the same way fr 😭 it’s not my personal style preference.. However some of my clients request me to find them some and it looks so cute on them styled up!

I haven’t been feeling that fire and desire to fix my relationship with God as I found myself drifting away from him. I know how wonderful life is when my relationship with God is strong and I love the person I am when I have God flowing in my being. Picking my Bible up is very hard and praying is even harder. I can’t seem to separate myself from the word and it’s killing me because I want to better my relationship with God and for it to be what it was before! Hearing you saying that you won’t always feels that fire and that it takes time to get there comforts me. Me wanting to fix that relationship says something and I pray that God lights up that fire in my heart and that he gives me the strength to fight this world and to fight my flesh. I pray that he gives me the desire and want. I can’t do this by myself but I know anything is possible if it’s done with the Lord. May he work his wonders into my life and bring me back to him. I pray in his holy name, Amen.

I relate to you a lot with this comment. I’ve been also struggling with this I’m not sure if this will help you at all but it has helped me by deleting the social media apps off of my phone. I have no idea if that is contributing to your struggle but Jesus is with you and knows what you’re going through all of it! I haven’t been able to pick my Bible up but I read James this morning and deleted it and that has helped. God is with you!

Figure out what are the biggest distractions you may have while chilling with God (reading, praying, talking, meditating). Social media , thoughts and even tiredness can be used as distractions. I think if you commune with God, although you may not “feel” like it, it can begin to make you feel closer to him. He’s always near but sometime we do kinda lose interest. It SUCKS! But a good thing too Is to keep people around you who is strong in their walk and take things day by day. Watch sermons on what you’re feeling or podcasts. This walk is a relationship and it takes intentional love. I know exactly how you feel though.

I was just saying this it’s been a debate on if ppl should share their spiritual journey with social media but you have shown just how beautiful accepting God into your life is he can literally create anyone into a clean heart and it hits so close to home for me because i definitely was very worldly in my teens and in my 20s God has given me new eyes I am no longer bound to who I used to be!

Hello, I feel the urge to share this with you , I was of the same school of thought till the Lord finally delivered me through His Word. James 3:11-13 talks about how a spring can’t produce both fresh and salty water. The music may seem “normal, not harmful, just a feel good song” but you have to think about who it’s from. My thoughts are, as long as whoever made the song isn’t a follower of Jesus(and we confirm this by looking at their fruits) then the music they make does not glorify God even if they say things like “thank you God”. It was a struggle at first for me to give it up but the HolySpirit helped me. Also they’re wonderful Christian artists in several genres that make music that glorifies the savior. It’s been 4 years and I only listen to gospel/ Christian music. If He did it for me , He can and will certainly do it for you if you let Him. Sending you love❤ Stay blessed!

i felt the same way until the holy spirit gave me that CONVICTION and lemme tell you i feel so much peace now and more intimacy with God now. God showed me that a lot of artist i’m listening to disrespect and mock God. A lot of artist also use dark magic in their music to get famous. They also make music which goes against song (whether explicit or just glamorizing sin) And i thought to myself why do i find pleasure in things that go against God. AND GIRLLL when i tell u i loved secular music i had tons of playlists and i would listen to all types of music all day. But i still sacrificed it for Jesus and let go of that idol. I did because i loved Jesus more than i loved secular music and to be obedient to him. i didn’t understand why i had to let go of secular music but i still trusted Gods understanding above mine. the day after i deleted all my playlist God gave me so much peace. And till this day i have so much revelations and see so many things i wouldn’t have if i were still listening to secular music. secular music was truly blinding but now i am free. i have a lot of playlist on apple music my used is “elannia” God bless you 💕💕💕

I still occasionally smoke weed. But I’m currently pregnant with my rainbow baby so I’ve quit cold turkey. But before I found out I was pregnant every time I smoked I felt guilty. My husband is a “pothead” and has smoked it since he was 11. And every time he don’t have it to smoke he becomes mean and angry. I’m constantly praying for him. I think even after I give birth in February I’m not gonna smoke anymore I’m feeling really convicted about it.

I stopped smoking after the decision to not abort my baby which was all spirit lead. Such a beautiful gift and shift of life. I quit cold turkey and honestly the journey 2 years later has been graced beautifully. I feel more clear and energetic day to day. I now understand that the abuse of the marijuana plant is not right. People may say it is for medicinal reasons or for mental health and while that may be true we have to seek the Lord to bring true and complete healing. Keep warring for your husband. Ask the Lord to reveal to him his addiction to bring up the root to the surface. Repent for unknowingly encouraging his usage. be patient the Lord will hear you and he will answer accordingly. Best to you and your family❤

The points about secular music are really good! It really impacts your mood and that used to have me in a chokehold because it was something that allowed me to be “in” and I let it be part of my identity. But, listening to worship, praise, and other types of gospel music has been life changing. The Bible says “speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭19‬ ‭KJV‬‬‭‭

This came right on timeee!!! God recently convicted me of living a lukewarm life and I chose a side and that side is the side of the Most High, Jesus Christ. Secular music and how I was dressing was a big one for me, and the way I got rid of all of my music that would draw me away from God I knew it was the Holy Spirit working through me because I am a music head. I can’t thank God enough for his grace and mercy and for saving my soul! I love this video!

  • @briannariddick

The prayer at the end literally felt like you were praying for ME. Bought me to tears. The past three years have been a WHIRLWIND. I was in love and realized the man I decided to have a child with was rather the opposite of who I thought he was 8 months into my pregnancy. He became extremely abusive in my pregnancy and beyond. He left us when my son was 4 months old and I cant even put into words how difficult things have been spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and financially the past three years of getting fired from my job and laid off from two others. It is almost impossible not to feel like you have been forgotten about. Partnered with a deep love for love and all dating being an absolute disaster to this day. I am finally getting closer to God. Ive been prayong hard even though it very much felt for a long time like I was talking to nothing. Three years of no good news will definitely do that to you. A year of unemployment will do that to you. I drove for Lyft and that ate away at my pride. I knew how capable I was with sales and marketing experience and driving for lyft felt like a waste of my brain. Not even mentioning a custody battle, 18,000 dollars in unpaid child support, and an ex that does literally nothing for our child but takes time out to belittle me. Alot of weed and drinking to survive the storm. All to say, thank you Jesus. I worked hard and got my real estate license and i finally got the job of my dreams in new home sales. I always asked God what I did to deserve the way ive been treated and the way life was going and He told me one day I will ask the same thing but in awe of the life around me and the things ill accomplish. Three years I couldnt see it, but I finally can. Im surely experiencing alot of imposter syndrome. I genuinely cant believe something GOOD happened. Something I genuinely wanted and needed. But its finally happening. I SEE GOD. I want so badly to achieve marriage but with everything coming im trying to accept that this just may not be the time. And like I said earlier - I love love. And thats the problem. I need to love God more than I do romantic love. He knows if I got my husband right now - ill admit - id drown in that man and lose sight and therefore lose my relationship. Its so hard to silence that deep desire but switching to praying for my husband and his life currently has been life changing and a great reminder that this is in His hands. This have been dry and barren as far as dating but I just have confidence my husband is praying for me to, and praying nobody comes into my life to hurt and use me. All to say - I see Jesus now. I was in the dark but maintained my faith. And now I SEE HIM. And ill never leave him again ❤️ im trying to transfer over to Christian content only and Lord help me get away from secular music and dive into Christian music. The process is processing, but just thank you Jesus for bringing god fearing women like you to my phone .

As someone who’s trying to get close to God I need some Christian girl advice. I’ve been having a hard time going to church. Part of it is because my family didn’t support me for going to a Christian church instead of a Catholic Church. But another is about forgiveness. How do I forgive the pastors daughter for kissing my boyfriend while she knew we were together. This happened a while back. My bf never really went to church but his parents do and I started to go to church with his parents but didn’t know this happened. She knew we were together but didn’t know me personally and he told me this happened when we got into an argument. I forgave him but how can I forgive her? I’ve prayed about it and now I can’t go back to that church and feel like now I’m taking it against the pastors when they probably had no idea this happened

I sat and listened to your entire video in the midst of completing college scholarship essays, and I must say you have to be careful what you listen to because when you brought up the verse Matthew 6:33, I was focused on what I was doing, but it is as though I stopped in my tracks to immediately go highlight and reread the verse. This video was a breath of fresh air and very encouraging! Thank You!!!

This was lovely, and so needed. Maya, I have been watching you for about a year now, and when I tell you you help me get closer to God.... Girl. I've been spiritual all my life, and have had a complicated relationship with the Lord where the faith comes and goes, and sometimes I truly question if He is present. I empathise with having thousands of thoughts in your head all the time and wondering how you're going to attend to everything... essentially turn up to life everyday. But even acknowledging Him is peace. Is bliss. I have subscribed to Hindu and Buddhist principles for most of my life but have read scriptures across religions, and have recently started learning more about Christianity. You have a huge, if not the biggest part to play in that. I appreciate your transparency, and the drive you have throughout this journey into faith. I appreciate your high vibrations. Much love.
