Christian Facebook Mom Says Barbie Is DEMONIC 🔥

Ойын-сауық

Today we're taking a look at a post by the most demonic creature of all: a Christian mum on Facebook. It's not just hilarious, but an opportunity to learn a little about yoga in Hinduism, to review the worst parts of Deuteronomy... and to play with toys :)

Welp it does turn out that only certain US-based charities are approved as fundraisers BUT... since most of y'all are in the USA this probably makes more sense anyway. I've chosen the US charity "Human Rights Campaign" for the fundraiser. My dear local friends can donate to Stonewall here: donorbox.org/support-stonewall Happy Pride to everyone except the people who complain about pride being unfair to the straights while the LGBTQ+ community continues to have their rights challenged and face regular discrimination. They can get in the bin

    Hello Emma, I solved metaphysics. Metaphysics explained: 2D shape-name vs. 3D shape-name for determining 4D shape. (circle, in this example) Earth 'is' a 4D "circle" (2D shape-name); a "Quaternion". Earth 'is not' a 4D "sphere" (3D shape-name); a "Hypersphere". 2D = circle 3D = sphere 4D 'circle' = quaternion 👍 4D 'sphere' = hypersphere 👎 (lit. 5D) 3rd, 4th and 5th Dimensional shape-names are causing confusion. Making people think our current 'contingent' universal stereographic is 3D instead of 4D. 2D shape-names for determining 4D shapes. 3D shape-names for determining 5D shapes. "Transcending dimensions" (Jacob's Ladder 🪜). 0D: point 1D: length/line 2D: shape-name + L/W "circle/flat earth". 3D: shape-name + L/W + depth "sphere/globe earth". 4D: shape-name + L/W/D + time(flow); current, 'contingent' (not simulated) 4D circle "quaternion" earth. 5D: (H1) 6D: (H2) 7D: (H3) 8D: (H4) 9D: (H5) 10D: (H6) 11D: (H7) Empyrean: (God's Abode) You can use any 2D shape-name to determine 4D shape characteristics accurately. Good luck proving/solving Pataphysics 🙃. Google 'quaternion' stereographic images/info, please. 4D 'circle' (not 4D 'sphere'). i.e. our planet. Everything is Geometry and dimensions. Use correct dimensional name-shapes.

@@ready1fire1aim1 Interesting. You probably would've got along with Betrand Russell, in terms of his focus on the importance of clarifying accurate definitions as a necessary foundation to understanding, and discussing, those concepts. But, given your understanding of definitions, you would know that you have not 'solved metaphysics' but solved a way of describing metaphysical terms. You have literally (😉) combined colloquial terms for describing shapes, and added words to those terms in common usage to make those definitions more precise. If you aren't already familiar, you might be Interested to look up the avant-garde art work 'This is not a pipe'. Then you might see the irony in your post. In your genuine intellectual cleverness, I think it may have been a situation of 'not seeing the wood/ forest for the trees'. But in terms of defining metaphysics, your use of logic may have hit on something useful. Everyone in the field, primarily, would need to adopt your terminology for it to be a workable system. If that occurred, the terminology may be picked up by the general population. But it helps if you have a reputation in the field to be listened to and have an impact. I hope you are using your obvious intelligence towards a goal of this nature. But your life choices are your own! It's rare to find people willing to write thoughtful comments on KZread. People seem threatened by others who want to think/ are driven to think and try to tear them down. I find it sad for them. They are missing so much! Thank you for your comment, which inspired me to think, too. 😊

“Play is valuable as an adult” Considering how stressful and grim being an adult generally IS, and how poorly our education systems and parenting culture (at least if you’re a child of the 80s-90s...can’t speak for later) in the UK prepared us for being adults and dealing with adult things....I’d say play is VITAL as an adult. Being an adult should never mean having to set aside the things you enjoy just because some homogeneous cultural attitude says those things are “for kids”. The way I see it, if it’s culturally acceptable for people to get totally shitfaced on a weekend while watching their favourite team kick a ball for 90 minutes, it should be just as acceptable for me to play computer games and paint little plastic space marines and play D&D.

They're soft and cute and when I have an anxiety attack because my hormones are sh*t, I cuddle one and do breathing and it keeps me sane and from feeling more horrible. Being an adult is hard. Mind you, I like it more because school was awful for me. Not to mention that I had to do a lot of growing up on my own. However, I don't care about the social conventions of "adulthood".

Emma, I'm an old fart, and grew up when homophobia, misogyny, and racism were the norm where I lived. It's been a long haul trying to overcome that crap, but I've made a little progress. It helps that my favorite relative is a lesbian. My point is, it's a personal issue, but we get bad messages when we are kids, when we are the most vulnerable. We may not be able to shut up those voices entirely, but at least we can tell them to bugger off. I don't have to understand trans people to believe that they deserve dignity and civil rights. Just incidentally, Christianity IS an "Eastern Religion." It originated in the Middle East. Anyway, I enjoy your content, thanks.

Yup, grew up in the same shitty minset. Took me years to get rid of it. And each year, I could look back at the previous one and think, for instance, "I was homophobic back then, but now I'm not anymore". Yeah, it takes time to realise all that is wrong, one stupid thought at a time. And I hope that I won't have to be ashamed anymore of my more recent past self. It's kind of "funny" to think I grew up in a Christian family, were you are taught that the most important thing to remember from the bible is "love your neighbor as yourself" (I'm not sure if it's the correct translation in English for this famous sentence, but you get the idea), while casual racism and homophobia are also the norm...

  • @claratalbot7613

I also kind of grew up around the racism & homophobia. This was before I realized I was bi & decided to follow Paganism which some of my family is okay with & others are not. I just find it funny & sad how many Christians preach about loving ur neighbor but then hate on someone because they're different from them. They hate on someone's very existence just because they don't agree with who that person is. Even though it's easier or at least less stressful to just say this is how I live my life & that's how u live urs. I may not agree with ur choices but I'm not going to try to control ur life because as long as the person isn't hurting anyone (including themselves) it's nobody's business what they do with their lives

When I was in middle school, my health class did a guided meditation; just the type where a calm voice helps you breathe slowly and imagine walking on a beach. When I told my dad about it, he told me to be careful because meditation can leave you vulnerable to demons and possession. Such an overreaction to basic ideas of calming yourself down.

I love this video! I'm Catholic. I work at a Jewish nursing home. Before plague times, they offered Yoga for employees weekly. I would go as a part of my physical therapy for a back injury. It was very helpful. A couple years ago, my pastor published an article on the church bulletin on a similar tirade as Angry Christian Mom. I wanted to debate with him but I do not have the knowledge to make a convincing argument. Also, I can't talk for shiz. I'm better with words on paper. Additional comment. I also love how these people who use the Bible to justify their crap cherry pick their verses and ignore the rest

it's the end of the culture wars. starting with ...let's say evolution in the 30s. but really with desegregation, in the 50s and the civil rights int eh 60s, the US- and the western world- has undergone the most intensive liberalization in history. the left has won virtually every battle on this. when gays got all their rights, the left moved on to trans, as the latest battle. this happened just as the right got enough political power that an effective backlash could happen. and that's where we are. they're fighting the latest, last battle, and hoping to FINALLY win one, so they can scale back all the losses they've taken. the problem is that they are a small minority with disproportionate power. so even if they pass laws against these things, socially they've already lost. it would only be a matter of time before those laws are reversed. kinda sucks for trans ppl now, but then it's always sucked for trans ppl. things have only recently begun to get better for them. it should start getting better again soon.

I remember my mom telling me to be careful when I mentioned I was taking a yoga class in college. Not because she was worried about me getting hurt, of course, but because Satan. The class was good, I kept doing yoga well after the class ended, though now that I've moved that routine has pretty much ended. I found it helped a lot with my frequent back pain so maybe I'll try to go back to it. Probably the most egregious thing in the class was that one time the teacher sat us down to watch "the secret". The great irony being that my mom believes in the main idea behind the secret, that "your thoughts have a direct, physical effect on the world around you somehow". I walked out of that class, I wasn't about to sit there and watch that bullshit, especially since my mom used manifestation/prayer/faith healing as an excuse to not get medical care she would benefit from. When it comes to yoga, you don't have to worry about Satanism or even Hinduism but new-age hippies, unfortunately. Thankfully, because it was a class at a community college, my teacher couldn't go all in with it, but I strongly suspected she wanted to given the things she said and movie day. If you want to take up yoga, but are also worried about being fed new-age nonsense, consider looking at community college classes. Since the classes are government funded the teacher has to restrain themselves somewhat. Or, if you're fine being more confrontational, you could go to studios and ask the teachers about their beliefs and how much they bleed into the class. I do think having a teacher is useful at first since they can correct your posture which helps prevent injury and make sure you're getting the most out of the poses.

I actually worked for Mattel for the past 2 years in the legal standards and practices devision and part of my job was to review video, packaging, and product to make sure there wouldn't be anything that may reflect poorly on the brand/receive public backlash or go against any truth-in-advertising regulations since children are highly susceptible to aggressive advertising techniques. I remember seeing this Barbie doll and not thinking anything of it. Seemed fairly harmless and if anything a very encouraging and uplifting product for children. My understanding is that what is called "yoga" in the west (and to some extent in India) is only slightly related to historical Hindu practices or texts. For us, yoga usually means a particular understanding of ashtanga yoga, involving stretching and breathing exercises. This apparently scarcely existed at all in India prior to the early 20th century. But an enterprising fellow (I forget the name now) decided to borrow some exercises from popular European books of that era, slap some eastern-sounding names onto it, and launch it as "traditional yoga," which it was not. But he was highly successful. The popularity of these stretching exercises waned in Europe, so everyone soon forgot that that is where they originated from. What is really funny about this is that you can actually find scans of those original exercise books (I think they were Danish or Swedish), and the photographs in them look exactly like many "traditional" poses in ashtanga yoga. To be clear, this doesn't mean "yoga" is just exercises and breathing practices. In Hinduism there are distinct traditions of "yoga" but what that means is largely unknown to practitioners of "yoga" in Europe and North America.

I really really liked the colour combo red and black. Then I made long bat wings for her using white cardboard box and painted it all black with some dark red shading. My barbie looked really cool and my parents didn't see any problems with it but my religious relatives came to our house one day and they told my parents to throw the doll away and I remember my mom getting in an argument with them and then those relatives never came back. We usually only see them during weddings or funerals other other relatives.

As a woman with Indian heritage, I found this facebook post, borderline racist. And I don't throw the racist card that often. Yoga is a big part of my culture, and my family is from the catholic religion, in India. I find it deeply worrisome when Americans and the western world mock eastern practices, call them DEMONIC, and take them inappropriately and call them "theirs" like many do when it comes to meditation and yoga as well! Yes, you can practice non-religious yoga, but you cannot just take it and call it "yours" if you're not Indian. You can practice it and acknowledge its origin, or you can leave it alone and don't open your mouth. Thank you for shedding some light on this, Emma!

Don't feel bad about having toys as an adult. I myself bought a Barbie last year and I'm 60 years old. Barbie is a nostalgic reminder of when I was a kid. The thought that Barbie is demonic makes me wonder if I can make my doll up to look like a demon. She would look so cool, maybe she can be Lilith Queen of the demons lol

Honestly toys are important.. they can help you relax and de-stress. Hell I am in my 20s and recently got an scp 999 plushie, it goes EVERYWHERE I go beacuse I suffer from depression and possibly anxiety. And this cute little orange blob that always looks like it's ready for a hug, helps me calm down. Hell if anything could be counted as "SAtAnIc", that would DEFINITELY be the scp wiki/fandom, and no Barbie sadly isnt listed on that wiki XD. But in all seriousness, everyone including adults should have atleast one toy or stuffed animal...

Growing up, Mom saw Live and Let Die, and there was a scene with Tarot cards. Hey mother said not to, but she went out and bought a deck, and played with them while her mom told her how demonic it was. That night, unsurprisingly, she had nightmares about demons and the cards trying to kill her and such. She burned the cards and then told us kids to never, ever mess with the occult. The instant I left home, I started studying every other religion she forbade (including Catholics, which were just as evil), including diving into the history of demon worship and the quite-lovely Church of Satan. I have yet to be claimed by demons. This is the same woman that when I get 'twinges' of fear or what could loosely be called 'premonitions' to her but is really me worrying about someone, she tells me it's my 'old highland blood' and I should listen to it.

@Emma Thorne, while watching your face as you were talking, the corner of my eye noticed the little flame on your chair, along with the tuft of hair sticking up on the other side of your head, and my brain instantly made those out to be tiny horns as you were speaking about Satan and the demonic XD I love your method acting, I would never have thought of becoming a demon, just for such a video :)

22:50 Pretty much standard for christian parents. "I followed the rules and raised them christian but they're not happy, the devil must have got them." To be fair to the parents, they are themselves living in fear and acting on that fear when they try to force their children into their own religion but that doesn't excuse it, it only explains it and gives us a starting point to address the problem with parents who are willing to look at themselves critically. It's not exclusive to christians but a common problem I observed growing up among christians.
