It’s Easter Sunday morning in the States. I’m listening to this again and praying that all of you beautiful people in Kyiv are safe.

I hope these singers and musicians are safe and warm tonight, and that their families will be reunited very soon. May the risen Christ be close to you, bless you and keep you.

I am listening to this on Easter eve and my heart is full. How wonderful to hear these musicians singing in praise of Christ’s resurrection. May they experience His resurrection even in the destruction of their homes and cities. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

You have a Hope, the risen Saviour, Jesus Christ who is with you and will not leave you even in this horrible evil time. As Diane and the late founder Roger McMurrin’s current neighbor, this performance brings tears to my eyes as we prepare to celebrate Christ’s resurrection. Thank you for carrying on Roger and Diane’s legacy with the extraordinary orchestra and chorale he founded many years ago. I sure do miss Roger as I’m sure many of in Ukraine do as well! where was this performed? It doesn't look like an Orthodox church to me. Just curious.

All teach putin a lesson

but there is no coherence between the rhythm of the introduction and that of the anthem!

arrangement a bit sensational- I know it is hard to make an original arrangement of this after so many but a bit over zealous just a bit. Good players though.

Any idea why the male and female singers are intermixed on the risers? I've performed many Rutter arrangements but always with SATB sections, so I'm wondering if it was the conductor's choice, a local custom, the arranger's suggestion, etc. It certainly helps blend the sound. (I put my comment here because you and I seem to be the only ones commenting on the musical arrangement and not on the political circumstances or ecclesiastical timing of our postings, Spring 2022, as the concert was posted in November 2019, when neither war nor Easter (nor even Covid) were on anyone's mind.)

Admitted; the shadows of the actual situation also cover this performance... But I surely would have said more about the musical aspects, too, if only my knowledge of this subject would be a bit wider than that of a cow about knitting... 🙂
