I really LOVE this Interview. This made me have even more love and Respect for Chris. I'm a haitian woman and I will be honest I never knew of Selena until after her death. Once I heard about her awful death I went and searched for her music and at the time I got a cassette tape I would play it over and over again. I played it so much. I would go to sleep with it playing when I woke up and realized it stopped I would flip it to the other side and play it. There was time ZI Would listen to it all day. My FAVORITE was I Could Fall in Love. I even bought the movie when it came out on tape of course. I need to upgrade and buy the movie on Dvd now. I cried and cried when I saw the movie. I always wonder about Chris and hope he was able to move on. I've never lost a person that I loved so deeply well my father died but that's a different kind of love. I didn't even know Selena and I would cried for hours at a time. Chris May God Always bless you and may your cup NEVER RUN EMPTY. Thanks for doing this interview I appreciate it. For the young gentleman thank you too. For the both of your may everything you touch turns to Gold. Chris you will get to reunite with her One day. Please everybody DON'T hate me I never knew of her until after her death but I still love her the same. She was such a beautiful woman with so much class. I watched so many youtube videos on her. Great interview guys. Have a Great Night and be BLESSED

Great interview. Wanted to share a story. I got to the part about fans not really seeing Selena's mother. I moved to Corpus in 1999. I was a big Selena fan and had done the tour, driving by the house, visit the studios, etc. One day my husband and I randomly pulled over to look at puppies for sale in the mall parking lot. A van pulls by and yells out the window a question about the dogs. I'm not paying attention to these people. They pull up and gather around, everyone holding puppies. Then a man speaks. I bet my mouth dropped huge though I tried not to show it. I knew that voice. Abraham! I looked up trying to be casual and my husband and said something funny about the dogs (winnie dogs) being long like the cartoons taking a while to turn a corner and the woman laughed. It was Selena's mother! I'm sure it was grandchildren they were with but imagine my shock. I tried so hard to not show the surprise on my face but wow! How fun for a fan. :)

I wonder why Selena's dad didn't like Chris at first. He's such a nice guy. Her dad would rip his hair out to meet the statistical majority of the dogs called men these days. People say Selena was lucky to meet Chris and to have love with him, but, he was just as blessed. I don't believe in luck. I look at pictures of them, and Chris is always on cloud nine. It's like he won the lottery. Selena was a good woman. Chris said in an interview once that she was always reprimanding security guards, saying to let her fans be near her. The fact that she was so seemingly exposed and sought at would make you think it's what lead to her death, but, it wasn't so much the case. She was tricked by someone she loved and trusted. She was 23. She was a woman, but in so many ways, just a child. Poor girl.

I think her father was against her being in a relationship at the highlight of her career. She was literally, their income. He probably didn't want her to be distracted, settling down, or even having a bad public light on her, which he explained in the book that she was pressured to hide her marriage. Or, just like with almost any dad, the thought of daughters being with a guy is just frightening, because you want to protect them. But, seeming as what has currently happened between him and Chris, I don't think Abraham ever liked him at all.

*rosie forest* he didn't even want them dating, period. And he thought Chris was a bad influence. He got arrested for DUI, got into a physical altercation with cops while defending a friend in another incident, and trashed the hotel room with two road crew members while drunk. Chris was an introvert but often made poor decisions. You could say Selena set him straight, because he didn't seem to get in trouble afterward.

At the ago of 59 and white, I feel I was so very blessed and lucky to have meet both Selena and Chris way back in the 1991-1992 in a little town called Mcallen, Texas and yes at a Piza Hut, Both were a treat to behold & at the time in the Valley I felt alone as a older white guy, and where all my budds called Her Selenas and from a Fans' love that will never die! So sad that both Chris and I only meet that one time with Selena and now both of us live NOW in San Antonio!

This was a great interview! I'm truly amazed with Chris' answers. He is very intentional of what he says. He thinks before he speaks. He's not prideful. He doesn't speak negatively about anyone or anything. I can see how Selena fell in love with him, not because of his looks but he's genuine and very easy going. He respectful and honorable. A true gentlemen.. He loved her so much. And loves his children! I'm a fan of hers and his.

I hope that Chris and the family will post personal videos of her at home for us to even watch on tv and I'm waiting for the book to arrive in South Africa. Much love to Selena's family and fans.

This was SO eye opening! My heart still breaks for the incredible loss of Selena. How difficult life must be for Chris even still. I sang as a teen in my room to Selena's songs. She made me dream big and I feel love in her songs. Chris Perez I'd love to do an interview with you now...look me up.

Great interview. I wish I could stay and listen to Selena all day long and especially Chris. I heard that Chris had to give up Selena estate and Chris I surely hope that's not true at least not all of it. She loves you so much and I know I should say loved but I can't. And I'm sorry but J Lo is nothing like Selena but I watched it as a movie. I grew up in a family band as well and was the singer all my life and I even drove the bus most of the time. My drummer was the drummer that played with the people who sang "give me a ticket for an aeroplane" and it's been so long I can't remember his name except to say Dave, hi Dave if you're there. He would show us movies of thousands of people it was so cool. He was so proud. I had to do choreography in New York heat, I digress. But I know what you've been through. I've been through it too. And I have my experiences today. I want a studio so bad and all the men always had a studio and I never could afford one not even a small Tascam. I still have my microphone and my half tambourine and I sang cover songs never originals. But I sing jazz, blues and sang Joan Jett songs and I packed the floor singing "I hate myself for loving you. "That was a fun song to sing! Then I sequenced Gloria Estefan, "rhythm is gonna get you"and packed the floor, but I love sequencing horns and percussion. I love percussion and wanted to be Sheila E. Since I was 5 yrs old, singing professionally. love the memories you bring!

This is the friendly human, beloved dad, amazing friend... THANKS for that! We can really feel that we are in front of him talking like if we were family or friends for looong time.

I love Chris he is such a humble person and you can tell how much he loved Selena. I know that not many people supported their early relationship, but even till this day you can tell just by the way he speaks about Selena that he truly loved and still does love her. I'm so happy that she got a chance to experience true love before she was taken from us. RIP Selena, forever a loyal loving fan.

Well done Brava to you both. Chris you and your family are beautiful and amazing. Thank you for sharing and for living and continuing to be so gracious to let us in. I'm a Caribbean born woman living outside Toronto but grew up there as well. I was young but remember hearing 'If I could fall in Love' and 'Dreaming' for the first time. I sang along with it as a young teen and loved her voice. That was my intro to Selena as much of the world also got to know her. I'm glad I did. I got to know and understand more through the movie. I remembered her passing and the shock of it. I prayed then for the family and haven't forgotten them. I watch just a few hours ago the Selena live in Houston and Chris you're right.... watching her live in person I'm sure was a wholllleee other experience. I could only imagine. Just watching her spirit and energy alone in the live video WOWWWW was just a taste, but amazing and touched me as well. My spanish isn't good at all but I love her songs and try to sing along with them. I'm guessing she managed to stay in such great stature because she love and energy on stage was her work out wowwwww. So I'm sure eating pizzas probably wouldn't have ever shown lol. How this woman danced and danced in those heels and got on and off stage with such ease and energy wow. I couldn't keep up and all I was doing was watching the video. AMAZING. I cry everything I watch the movie and I've seen it alllllotttttt of times. Selena die hard fans...you are amazing continue to keep her positive light and energy alive. Keep the family in your prayers. Pain like that never goes away. It eases but it's a day by day. Chris you are remarkable. Brava I'm sure she's proudly cheering you on. N

I didn’t know who Selena was when I heard on the radio about her death. I was in the Army stationed at Ft. Sill Ok at the time. In 98 I was stationed in Korea when my husband and I found the movie Selena. I still have it. My husband is Hispanic and we are both retired in Corpus. Selena has become a nice part of my life now and I didn’t get to see her or meet her. Every time the name of the person who killed her comes up on shows like Murder made me famous on Reels for example, I get angry because she took a beautiful person away from us. My husband and I were at the walk of fame in Corpus when Cris Perez got his star. What I saw of him, I thought he was down to earth kind of guy. I hope to meet him someday and I always see Selena’s memorial on Ocean Dr. on my way somewhere and on my way home. She will never be forgotten. Just thought you’d to know. Enjoyed the interview:)

Thank you for uploading this. :) I love it because it's not awkward, it's really natural and Chris looks comfortable and doesn't seem like an interview, just like a conversation you know. My earliest memories of Selena were when I was like 3 maybe 4, and I remember crying when I watched the movie. I wasn't even born though when she passed, I was born a year after and it blows my mind too how the joy she brought to the world is still given through her spirit and music. :)
