And one day, my brother gave him the most surprising answer and I will never forget my dads look....... at like 8-9 yrs old, he says to my dad “its a black persons game now”. 🤣.

They're soft! Etc, etc." And then you hear people complain that there is no respect for the older players. If you guys were even the slightest bit more complimentary, you could probably get plenty of people interested in the lesser known greats much easier. I must disagree with you. Respectfully. The all-time leader would be Pete Maravich. He averaged 44.3 pts in his college career and according to Dale Brown who watched every game video of Maravich's career. Maravich made an average of 13 -3 pointers a game! That means he would have averaged 57 points a game. Maravich's father (Press) was LSU's coach and Pete had a green light from anywhere! Just sayin! I love Mullin's shot and watched him in college. I believe I grew up in the greatest basketball era ever 1970-2000, at nine years old I went to a Lakers closed door practice at the forum in 1972, while the Lakers where in the middle of their 33 game in a row win streak and went on to win the championship, that day I saw Wilt Chamberlin & Jerry West, Gail Goodrich..I was hooked.I choose basketball as my sport and was able to play for 41 years until I turned fifty when my body told me that's it, most fun I have had in my life. Growing up and watching West, Chamberlin, Magic, Kareem, Bryant, O Neil all of these players jerseys hanging from the rafters also witnessing these players-Jordan, Pipen, Malone, Stockden, Dr J, Allen Iverson, Barkley, Bernard King, John Havelcheck Bird, Mc Kale, Tiny Archabald, George Gervin, Pete Maravich, Tim Duncan, Reggie Miller. Chris Mullins, Hakeem, these were some of the greatest players of all time! This was truly the grestest era of the NBA! Main weakness on that team was no muscle and size - Alton Lister was okay, but a high-quality big man would have been great. A couple years later, we get Weber, plays for one year (without Timmy), the Warriors then sign Sikeley, and a week later disaster struck - Weber and his agent/grandmother thought Web was being "dissed" by Nelson. Warriors gave him a one-year out (incredulous to trade Penny Hardaway and 3 first rounders for someone who you give a one-year out to). The Warriors took 15 years to recover.

@@muckmire3716 Altho big men have evolved into more well rounded players and shooters, it hasn't benefited the overall game and unless you experienced it, it makes a huge difference being able to defend your opponent with a straight arm or hand check. I remember the 1st time I played basketball in the West and being so relieved that they played a more relaxed, open style of bb where you didn't even have to take it out if the ball didn't hit the rim. It was then that I realized what a difference hand checking makes. In every game, no matter the level of aggression, there is always finesse players. Some guys run to contact, some don't. I think the overall avg player is prolly more skilled and refined now but there is something to be said for resilience and toughness which before the Euro revolution forced players to earn every point they got. I can't speak on bb from b4 the 80s bc I didn't see it, but I haven't seen any better bb played from Magic n Bird thru the Kobe Shaq Lakers.

@@JJGerrard1980 that's your opinion. Some people prefer the higher scoring more wide open game. It's not toughness, it is more being able to have skill. The defensive focus is definitely not there but that is more due to the game evolving and the rule change. I dont see the team continuity anymore with the exception of San Antonio and Golden State, but skill wise these guys are way beyond previous generations. Just a bunch of old people practicing revisionist history. Being a bruiser is not enough, you're at a disadvantage now and have to develop your skill. There was no one like the Greek freak, Embid, Lebron, Derrick Rose, Durant in the 80s-2000. Great players make adjustments. It's not their fault the NBA deemphasized and penalized certain aspects of the game. But if you think these vastly superior skillsets and athletic ability would not have their way with previous generations you are tripping. Go look at Bob Cousy highlights and tell me how he could possibly keep up with Derrick Rose or Russell Westbrooks?

While there is definitely superior sport specific training now a days, guys were starting to train yr round back then and their endurance and durability far outweigh todays modern player. You wanna tell me MJ, Magic, Drexler, Barkley, Malone, Bird, Wilkins, Kareem, Hakeem, Robinson, wouldn't still dominate today's game?? Your wrong if you do.
