I agree with Jericho because at that time in 2002, what bigger match could’ve headlined a WrestleMania besides Rock vs Hogan? And despite Jericho being Undisputed Champion at the time, they basically made him Stephanie McMahon’s proxy for her feud with Triple H.

The crowd was DEAD after Hogan vs Rock, totally exhausted. The air left the room...Jericho vs Triple H, people went home, and people were tired. Hogan vs Rock is THAT match that people will remember for ages. Up there with Hogan vs Andre. I'ver never seen anything like this ever again. Back in the day - the crowd loved the stars of the show - today, the crowd wants to be the star of the show. That's difference between this generation of pg fans and the old g's. Hogan is so emotional invested, it goes beyond the ring. Just look at the crowd. Guy is like He-man or Batman came alive. He's just larger than life.

I think it was DDP who said this many years ago, that Toronto crowds were known to favour heels, and Toronto was known to absolutely love Hulk Hogan. It's tough to imagine Vince being ignorant to this, but I guess he was just stubborn on maintaining the tradition of keeping the title match last. Off The Record was a Canadian show. Saying Hogan-Rock should had main evented over HHH-Jericho, I guess, would have been seen as a slight to a main event that featured a Canadian (Jericho) in a Wrestlemania that was in Canada. Remember too that the host of that show, Michael Landsberg, was a huge jingoist when it comes to how Canadian wrestlers were being used in WWE and WCW.

It would not surprise me, however, if Shawn was actually livid about it.

I'm on the fence with this. On one hand you want a match the caliber of Rock vs Hogan to close the show. However, the title match should go on last as the focus at the close of the show should be on the championship. It kind of pisses on all the wrestlers that main evented before for the championship to not have the title close the show. So, I can see both sides.
