I never understood the breeding of Persian or brachicephalic cats cause as adults they really don’t look “pretty”. It’s like a weird thing. I’m so happy chouchou found a place where they pamper him and give him all the cleaning he needs.

He suffered from a SEVERELY cleft palette and had to be tubes, said for several months before he could undergo surgery to even begin to correct it. Like Hannah and Andrew have taken very good care of him, though since he was a really little guy.

Grooming brought my dads cat back from the brink. She was beyond senior by this time, and so matted and unable to care for herself anymore. She just couldn't keep up even with brushing assistance and was seeming to be miserable and like she had given up. Finally dad was convinced to take her to the groomer and oh my god did she suddenly become a kitten again almost. She was spry and started eating properly again. She lived another 4 years afterwards, happy and healthy right up until the end.

Watching Chou eat his treats as he's getting groomed, looking like an absolute muppet, is making me cry laughing. He's so skrunkly and I love him

Holy Cow! Chou is better behaved than a lot of dogs are while being groomed! He looks so cute and acts like he feels much better. Good Job!

As long as ChouChou is getting treats, he is completely unconcerned about anything else that may or may not be happening 😹

Chouchou and Fergie are so bonded I've been worrying for months how they'd react to Chouchou being adopted; I'm so happy they get to stay together! I guess Hannah and Andrew are there too... 😜

@@OneProudBBC Yes, I remember the Kitten Lady video about making that choice. Unfortunately, I had to make a similar choice shortly after, so, it came at a good time, if such a thing could be said. That's the worst part about being the guardian of a kitten or a cat. Their life spans are tragically short, and it sucks. Eloise was always my favorite. Because of Ferguson's kidney issues, I took a much greater than usual average, I think just because that is my nature. When I had a sick kitten, Ridley, and I couldn't figure out why she never seemed to get better, I learned toward the end of her life she was positive for FeLV, something I had never heard of before, and she was certainly positive for it when she was put in my care. I was fighting a losing battle, and her bone marrow was shutting down, from it. I fought to the end, though. I guess that was what made me want to advocate for fights that seem hopeless, and fortunately, Ferguson has defied the odds. And Coco getting bitten by a baby rattlesnake had me especially concerned when I saw that on my feed. I was not aware of antivenom treatment for cats, but I'm glad it exists.

I used to have a long haired white cat who wasn’t a purebred, but she had enough Persian features for us to be pretty sure she was partly Persian (shorter legs, rounder head, flattened face, big round eyes.) She hated being brushed and would get so stressed she would usually pee on herself even though I always tried to be gentle. I started taking her to be groomed and before long I learned to do it myself. She was incredibly cooperative with having her fur trimmed. She loved having short hair. She would seem so much more energetic and happy after being groomed. She was the only cat I have ever had that would reject sources of heat but lay on top of floor vents when the AC was on.

Maybe you rescued yours, but breeding and purchasing Persian cats is cruel because THEY CAN HARDLY BREATHE to begin with. They are susceptible to disease. People, please stop seeking out short-nosed dogs and cats.

I had a friend that had a cat just like Chouchou except he was gray. She always had him groomed at the beginning of summer. He looked like a different cat after the grooming and was adorable! Before that, I never knew cats got groomed but it makes sense to get rid of the heavy fur during warmer months.

just be mindful that some cat species have double coated fur that helps them regulate their body temperature, so while some cats do need to be shaved (old age, disability, etc) there are many cats who need their fur in the summer and the winter :)

@@missbrat711 you certainly can but it's not always necessary and can require more work on the owner's end to make sure their cat is comfortable. plus the coat may not grow in the same and that can cause even more hassle for everyone involved. imo it's easier to leave it unless there is a medical or health problem

I just enjoy Chouchou and his lion cut. The tail is the highlight of the look. He looks like a white lion and he knows he is cute and dapper. I love Persians. Glad he is doing good. I would not be able to adopt him out if he was at my house. You have bonded with him through all tge months you gave him special care and you are still doing that.

Good boy, ChuChu! You look so handsome! My 1 yr old rescue void, just had her second pedicure. She had never been to a groomer, that im aware of so i found a wonderful groomer who comes to our home. Magic absolutely loves her even after just 2 pedicures and kept giving her little kisses. Shout out to HANNAH, our groomer, if you see this! Edit - typo

I’ve had Persian cats for a long time they can over heat easily and become so much more active and playful when shaved down.

My cat has this done once a year, she hates grooming herself so she gets matted, she also hates grooming, so she goes to the vets where they sedate her, after it's done she seems so happy and full of life.

My ragdoll loves being groomed too. ❤ She had her teeth cleaned two weeks ago and they shaved her behind and belly while she was under and she’s been just ECSTATIC for belly rubs since then. ❤❤

I’ve had my domestic long hair girl get shaved in summer, usually when she is knocked out getting dental work done. I’m always amazed at how a cat that looks overweight suddenly has beautiful body conformation. And I love petting her peach fuzz body and admiring her little Ugg-type boots!

Precious Boi! I had a cream Persian rescue with blue eyes. Those wittle faces just make me melt! I kept him shaved in a little cut just like Chouchou, wittle boots and everything.

We used to do this for our (dearly departed) long haired kitty, Henry. He was an old man, but he would turn into a kitten after grooming! I’m glad it helps Mr. Chou!

He is so well behaved while getting groomed, such a good kitty 😊 One of my cats has long fur and he gets his groove back after shaving, he has to get sedated and shaved in vet, cause he doesn't like getting groomed when he is awake, he turns into spicy kitty 😂 he also doesn't like brushing, he tolerates it mostly but some areas are nono so he gets some mats from time to time. But the difference in his behavior after getting a haicut is huge, he is so much more social, can play for longer and can keep up with his fur too

My 1/4 persian used to get matts pretty much instantaneously, and hated being brushed. We got good at very very carefully shaving her at home because we got her as a senior and it was the least stressful thing for her. We could do it in short bursts over a week.

I love how much he loves eating. I still remember him having to be fed through a tube into his stomach. Definitely making up for it!

My grandparents used to have a cream-colored Persian cat and during the hot summer months he would also have the same "tiger", as I called it, haircut. It's sad, because he has been long gone now, but seeing Chouchou reminds me of him and the moments I had with him.

I love it! I have a 21 year old long-haired grey cat and he has never been great at grooming himself so he gets shaved once a year (twice when he was younger) and while he hates the experience he is always so much happier afterwards.

I used to have a ragamuffin and I'd get her shaved at the beginning of every summer. One of her favorite things to do was nap on the cool kitchen tiles. When she'd warm up one with her body heat, she'd swap to another in a straight line around the room.

I did this for one of my cats last year at the beginning of summer and would definitely do again, she was so much more comfortable and we live in Australia so our summers can get pretty intense.

Shaving my shitzus and my mix breed down in the summer make a tremendous difference in their comfort level. Although many dog breeds should never be shaved.

You inspired me to have my long haired cat shaved this summer. He was so much happier this summer!

I sat my long haired kitty down to watch with me. His name is Fred and being a neonatal grad, he doesn’t groom himself and will only let me do minimal brushing. He gets shave downs twice a year when it gets really hot. He always acts slightly embarrassed afterwards especially since his siblings are fat and fluffy! I’m sure watching did nothing but I’m hoping seeing a happy grooming might leak into his one orange cat brain cell!
