Chordplay - The Chords Of Twisted Sister
Here's the next episode of Chordplay with The Chords Of Twisted Sister. Twisted Sister formed in New Jersey in 1972 and by the early 1980s, they rapidly became one of the most popular bands in hard rock/metal when they exploded alongside other popular early-1980s hard rock/metal acts - such as Quiet Riot and Def Leppard (to name a few).
The chord-based ideas/riffs in this lesson came from a pair of Twisted Sister albums, along with a song from Dee Snider's 1990s horror film 'Strangeland,' and include tracks such as 'I Believe In Rock 'n' Roll,' 'Love Is For Suckers,' 'The Fire Still Burns,' 'Heroes Are Hard To Find,' 'Me And The Boys,' 'Wake Up (The Sleeping Giant),' and more!
Needless to say, if you're a Twisted Sister fan, and fan of 1980s hard rock music, or a player searching for some new chord twists and riffs to play around with - this lesson is totally for you! Give this episode a view, leave some comments/feedback, and please subscribe to Late Night Lessons - THANK YOU!

'Wake Up', classic Reb Beach groove. Definitely my favorite cut from the album. It's not a bad album, despite it never getting any radio play. The simplicity of the music allows Dee to carry all the power and energy with his voice; and he does. Thanks so much for covering "Heroes are Hard to Find". Another one of my favorites from TS. That movie being made from the Street Justice theme from Stay Hungry was so cool.
Love is for suckers is an awesome album. Thank you for show casing them.
Excellent lesson. Can't wait to see what you have planned for Metal Month in October! :)
Twisted Sister was my first concert at age 10 with my dad 1986! With Dokken opening. That was the moment I knew I had to play guitar!😂
Neat. I found Love is for Suckers in a local library a long time back and that was my first time hearing TS. That intro was immediately familiar though it's been a long time and I've forgotten any details by now.
Great Lesson!!!
It's time for another Vito video. 👍🎸🙏
Awesome man I am hoping you will cast your eye over Under the Blade and Can't stop rock and roll albums - loved the rhythm playing on Knife in the back and Ride to live as well as the actual song under the blade \m/
cool , sunday treat deluxe ..... thanks
I have to get my guitar that's tuned down a half step! We did "We're Not Gonna Take It" back in the day. It was always a crowd pleaser.
Great lesson on some basic metal cords yea I remember clearly the whole PMRC crap with Tipper Gore leading the charge we are lucky Dee went up there and slapped those fools back into shape 🤣👍👏
I wanna ROCK!!🎶🎵🎸
speaking of horror and rock would love to see a Fastway chordplay
Awesome. David, how about Raven, Accept? Chordplay. Thanks
Respect to this channel always .The ClubDays comps are really good that's the good stuff
Would love to see a chordplay episode for styx
Love is for Suckers was originally supposed to be a Dee Snider solo album but the record company forced him to release it as a Twister Sister album, which is why it sounds a little different than their other albums.
Damn .... Songs I would have never touched on guitar by a band I love. Complete eye opener on songs that would have got the big ole skip button before. A big thanks for this video. I would love to see you touch some of the lesser known, rifftastic bands of the late 80's / early 90's like Fifth Angel, Tangier, Babylon A.D, Lillian Axe and others who had some of the best guitar parts, but of whom never got any recognition. Similar to bands like Savatage who never really got their due limelight. Bands like Triumph and Aldo Nova also come to mind as fitting into your previous video ideas.
Instant click. DEVO has some surprisingly metal chord based riffs btw
Hey Dave....Think you can do one of these on Kenny Wayne Shepard's soloing nuances?
I gotta say, that t shirt is badass 🤘
Thanks Dave. Love me some TS. Under The Blade and Can't Stop Rock n Roll are killer albums. Inspired me to pick up a guitar in the early 80's as much as any other band. Love the intro to "Wake Up The Sleeping Giant", but sounds like Reb😉
I never really liked the TS songs I heard on the radio but I saw them live and they kicked major ass. Great live band. Edit to say: I forgot about the MTV stuff until you mentioned it. How did I forget how huge they were back then? It's weird how you forget things. Great video. Thanks David.
This band was awesome in live
Definitely liked their music. Both solid players. I do feel they probably took some hate back in the day for their image being SO over the top but they were a very solid band, musically speaking.
Love is for suckers is not a good example for a "Twisted Sister" album. But Fire Still Burns is the pinnacle of the actual bands output.
Curious to know why you didn't include any riffs from the first 3 albums? It should also be noted that all the rhythm and lead guitars on the Love Is For Suckers album were played by Winger's Reb Beach. Jay Jay and Eddie didn't play a single riff, note or lick on that album. The drums are also a drum machine, so the only 2 TS members you actually hear on that album are Dee Snider and Mark Mendoza.

Wasn't it originally supposed to be Dee's solo album?
Yaaas TS
Pretty sure Reb beach played a lot of parts on-love is for suckers ! Solos for sure
Great lesson Dave, If Rocktober is Metal month. My inner teenager is frothing at the mouth 😁 Vivian Campbell would be a great one. The Rainbow solo still might be one of the greatest solos ever. Randy, The Maiden boys Frank Hannon and Tommy Skeoch should be lessons themselves in two player bands. Mechanical Resonance and "Great Radio" we're incredible albums. Surprise NO MAKEUP. Great rock band period. George Lynch is an incredible player. ETC. your lessons are fantastic keep it up they're the best going. I do want to see the Chords of David Brewster though. I think it might be the most interesting and fun lesson ever. Thx again Dave keep up the great work 🎸🤘🎸👍
Hello broth, do you have the Me and the boys tab?.
👍🏼
I've heard Reb Beach was the player on the solos, such as "We're not gonna take it". Anyone know if that's true?

Reb played on Love Is For Suckers, but all the albums before that were Jay Jay and Eddie.
All 3 of them?
David, come on, stryper
TS are just “Bad donkey” what you lack in money you make up for in taste 😉
Hi Dave ... how about some John Frusciante please ??
Their earlier stuff was waaay heavier! Then they put out sappy corny songs ike I wanna rock and We're not gonna take it. Soo cheesy! 🤦😂🤣
Dude.. Break out a CKY episode...! If you are a horror flix... Metal band fan.. Yeah they aren't huge but there are plenty of riffcentric jams to kick out...
Nice 5 Orange chicken dinners.
