Lisitsa does many repetitions with a different touch or hard voicing then a softer touch or espressivo .Ashkenazy is very special. Geniusas has some fantastic ideas too . Even though Chopin doesn't write long durations there the thumbs bring it out usually . Cherkassky he makes a duet with upper voices and left hand ! . Bunin is wonderful voicing in the left hand along with pedaling . I love how Berezovsky can make part of a phrase hot or cold .He has so much variety of mood in the textures

There's something about Bunin that I love so much about.

I love Bunin's clarity and the light-and-shadehe achieves in his performance. I find similar qualities in Lisitska's sparkling rendering and her lightness of right-hand touch. Those two are top equal for me.
Cziffra!! Fast and yet has full control over the piece!
My number 1 interpretation for this piece is Ashkenazy, very uplifting and authentic. Close second is Lilista, her touch was sparkling, light and clear and the tempo was spot on. I also liked Geniušas’ performance for his tenderness and musicality, and Fujiko Hemming for her unique touch and connection of sounds yet creating an integral musical world of her own. Thank you for this post, it really motivated me to try practicing 😊

Cziffra's left hand work is beautiful
Ashkenazy was definitive, as usual. But I liked the young Geniusas kid, too, as well as Bunin's beautifully melodic style.

Nobody is really surprised. For example, Kapustin's Concert Etudes are very technically challenging, but are very musical.
Bravo fantastic job for all of them
My favorite is Berezovsky -- the right hand is SO even ! It sparkles like a silver thread. And the clarity is outstanding. He feathers his pedalling so beautifully ! You hear a lot of the left hand which is so often obscured ...
Lang HAD passionate playing and lyrical music once upon a time... but now the world is changing, and he is smart to change with it. Now it’s all about technicality and who has the most effects on stage - fog machines, studded sequined gowns, lights... you name it!

Now that you say it, it's true. I prefer his interpretation of this same etude when he was 16 to the one in this video.
I'm actually surprised to have liked Lang Lang`s interpretation. He plays it very articulately with little pedal which really makes this piece shine. Although he became more of a showman, his technique is incredible, honestly the most advanced technique in this video imo (edit: maybe behind the Cziffra's).
the best ones are the the 1, 5, and 8
Cziffra is playing it like Cziffra does, no doubt about it! Must say I liked Lang Lang too, he doesn't care just has fun with it, and why not it's music after all.
Czifra is absolute imagination, nice one.
Berezovsky plays the accompaniment to sing gently. Listen to the sound of their left hand.
For me the best are Bunin and Berezowski. François and Geniušas also play it wonderfully
Bunin definitely
1:14 1:36
The BEST of all, Samson François. Also beautiful Bunin, and very perfect and technical performance plays by Berezowsky
Anyone else love the slower interpretations? For me Bunin, Francois, Ashkenazy and Geniusas are all the best. Cziffra and Lang Lang just play it too fast, even though they’re able to keep the notes clear, it feels like they’re trying to finish the piece as fast as possible.

Rosenthal's 1st 1931 recording is my fav for this Étude. His 1929 waterfall is amazing as well.

Ashkenazy is perfect .
It’s hard to say whose performance is the best. For my sensitiveness the lyrical and light ones are the best. So it’s Bunin, Berezovsky, Ashkenazi and last but very much promising young Lukas Geniusas! 😅 ones
I love Cziffra style
I'm extremely surprised that this video has such a great like/dislike ratio. I'm currently learning this piece, and it was a delight to hear what a variety of famous pianists do one after the other (and it's quick to judge, since the piece is short enough). There were some recordings that surprised me in both good and bad ways. Honestly, the last recording (György Cziffra) was my favorite in terms of voice-leading and tone quality, but I absolutely hated how much his tempo fluxuates.

Lukas Genushas so handsome on this photo😍

who is lang lnag
I cant believe the voicing , the staccatto, the textures and pedaling . i was sitting awed ! Geniuss has some brilliant new ideas. Cziffra is pure ham in this version. Not Remarkable kind of easy cheap glam ideas .
who is lang lnag???
I don't agree with much of the playing of Hemming. But some parts of it are just too good. Indeed, I made a test: the only one of these recordings that stayed in my mind, agreeing and disagreeing, is the one by Hemming. As for Lang, I would only ask this, three words: What's the rush?
I like both Valentina Lisitsa and Lang Lang
that of Lukas Geniusas is to die for
Fujiko, Askenazie, Valentina, Lukas were my favorites.
Valentina Lisitsa, Lukas Geniusas, Vladimir Ashkenazy
Bunin est fort et il a trouvé une voix à faire entendre en 1mn 14
If I had to pick one from this list, it would be Valentina LIsitsa . But Horowitz' living room recording has quite something. However, my choice would be Maurizio Pollini.
聴き比べも良いね👍
