You are a godsend. I have just been gifted my first 8-shaft jack loom and am going through your videos with pen to paper. Coming from rigid heddle, I had no idea even where to begin but your calm voice, full explanations and great ideas have me excited to learn (and make mistakes and discoveries)as I go along. Please know that you are reaching people and making a huge difference in people's lives. It is a gift to us who can no longer find local teachers. I think everyone watching your videos would agree, even if they don't comment. These videos mean more than you could imagine.

thank you for making these, in a town with so many weavers, i've found it impossible to find a teacher. thank you for all this information. I can now finally set up my loom and weave the last thing my stepmom was weaving 20 years ago before she died.

I stumbled upon your videos and I am so thankful! Super informative, and so helpful! I have a table top loom, 24" and I have a 4 harness 8 shaft floor loom also. I love both and can't wait to put what I have gleaned from your videos to use on both! Thank you for providing this knowledge. I hope that you will be able to find the time to continue sharing your weaving projects with us.

Thank you for this series. I took weaving lessons about 35 years ago, and now that I've retired, I want to get back into it. These videos are very helpful. My question about yarns is - How do you feel about using 8/2 cotton from 2 different brands (due to available colors)? And besides "8/2" are there any other attributes to look for between brands if I do this?

Hi, Glad you are weaving again. I mix brands of yarn all the time. There is usually a difference due to how it is spun. WEBS 8/2 is thicker than another brand of 8/2. Sometimes I will use the thinner 8/2 and double it up in the weft, using two colors while doing this can give an interesting color effect. Unfortunately the only way to compare brands is to see them in person. When purchasing from the internet you just need to find a way to make it work if you get something Un-expected. Often you end up with something you didn’t plan but, is beautiful. Enjoy the process!

I am new to the floor loom. I just got a Norwood 8 shaft. I had never heard of webs before. I've been very intimidated about buying yarn, especially since weaving yarn is not available in my area. I also worry about spending a lot of money while I am first learning the skill. Is webs the best place to buy yarn? Is it the most cost effective especially when adding on shipping? Are there any other stores to consider? I'm in the Denver area. One of the things I would like to do is to make fabric for a kilt but I have been struggling trying to figure out what to get, how thick, and where.

Still don’t get the ends per inch then only using half and still calling it ends per inch. But everything else is straight forward.

Ends per inch is divided by two because you need to allow space for the weft to go between each of the warp threads.
