Thanks for the thoughtful video. Gonna use this!
It's critical that you tuck your chin down to your chest when doing hip thrusts to avoid damage to your lower back. Bret Contreras has great content on this movement. Otherwise great video and useful information.
I’ll just do lots of curls so my cannonball biceps will close up my chokes. Seriously, I’ve been struggling to find a routine that works with my BJJ training. This was helpful- thank you!
In addition to those fundamental patterns, sprinkle in some: Jump Rope TGU Indian Club Training
Sir....where does your head stop and your neck begin? God damn.

That’s my main choke defense
Regarding to BJJ is using choke, you guys can do isometric exercise such as dumbell curl in static motion, create your arms in 90deg and hold the weight in front of your chest in supination grip, both medial elbows solid to the ribs. And again, you can do adductor exercise such as squeezing swiss ball right inside your inner thigh, squeeze like 10-20 reps are enough to strenghten your both inner thigh (triangle choke and closed guard techniques require adductor muscle).
Wow it's Chad Wesley Smith!

Itsa me!
How you you rate calisthenics in particular gymnastic rings for upper body. Less stress on joints than fixed bar but more work on key stabilising muscles etc

Really excellent, maybe a bit steeper learning curve but excellent if you can do them effectively.
