Yeah. I realized a long time ago, and, often voiced the unpopular opinion, that even without religious or health concerns being considered, it is still better to do things the old fashioned way of spending time in group settings as friends, maybe in each other's familial home, and, eventually, in public but otherwise alone, if what you want is a real relationship. Because, throwing sex into the equation too early gives people the false impression of being connected to, accepted by and understanding this person they are spending time with. So much so that they stop really trying and feel betrayed, later, when they find out the person is something other than what they thought they were after only a few dates.

Steve is my favorite; he has a quiet sexiness about him. And while it's fun to go out and have a good time, it's also nice to stay at home and have a relaxing evening (i.e., listen to music, play board games, etc.) The one I have a problem with is Arthur. Arthur: "You're different from other girls." Eve: "That's what you think." Arthur: "You're smarter; you're almost like a man." Eve: "Oh no, I'm very much the woman." Arthur: "I don't think of you that way at all." OUCH!!!

This film is a gem. Possibly the best social guidance-type film I've seen, because not only is it entertaining, but the message is timeless and 100% true. My husband of eleven years loves playing music as much as he loves life itself. I couldn't live without books. We both love cats and collecting. There's a lot of overlap in our 'likes' and values, but a few significant ways in which we're very different. We knew this when we married. Like in this film, we know we'll have to be friends as well as spouses for a very long time!

There are also several persons commenting that they want a man like John. However - and, I only know this from the little bit of reading I did on sites about how bad the writing is - that twit in 50 Shades of Gray is actually nothing like John. He's weak manipulative, constantly thinking about and fawning over the woman and willing to go to great lengths to prove she is desirable. He is a pretense at strength, but, really, a slave to the woman. So, many selfish women do not like John, whom they see as a threat, but, they like that other dink, because, he is a fun pet who will make a fuss over them. I knew men who were like John, some into BDSM and some not, and, women were always telling me that they were abusive. Yet, I was never abused by them. Because, what the women really meant is that these guys would not let them get away with whatever they wanted without consequences. They would be generous, but, not to the point of ridiculousness. And, they were the sort that if a woman tried to make them jealous, they'd let her leave and never look back. It's like with Sean Connery stating that sometimes a woman needs to be slapped and defining the circumstances. Which is if she is given the last word and she won't take it, repeatedly. And, he was talking about a little slap, to restore her to her senses, not brutality. Same as you would do if someone was in shock or getting hysterical. Women told me he was abusive. I told them his wife doesn't seem to think so. They told me if I was with a man like that, I'd see and realize how bad he is, the first time we got in an argument. And, I was like, "No. Because, I prefer not to argue and when there is a disagreement, I want to solve it, not get the last word in. So, he's never going to be slapping me. He's going to be slapping you! Therefore, the problem isn't him and it isn't me, it's you." Then, they got mad when I walked out on them for refusing to listen and think. And, I didn't even slap them!
