Bensondaughter is such a beautiful name

Older sister is Hikari (meaning light in japanese) and my dad wanted us both to have some natural source of energy in our names. So I got named Mio (written with the kanji "beautiful sound"). Sooo light and sound. Lots of Mio's in Japan but rarely with my kanji ☺️☺️

I mean he was famous during that generation and is still pretty legendary in the Asian music industry. I actually knew a good amount of people who named their kids after famous Cantopop singers

O-O my name is Olivia. I have a twin brother named Alexander. I have a younger brother William and a younger sister Elizabeth.....

So my mother named me Iris and when I was a child she had said she choose that name because Iris is both a flower and a Greek goddess... When I got older, the truth came out: I was supposed to be born on St. Patrick's Day and she saw the word "Irish"... And just dropped the H.Depending on who asked the origin of my name and my level of cheekiness for the day, my answer varies...

Also, my cousin helped name me, I believe my mother just asked my cousin for names, my cousin said she though of Wesley Snipes because three movies of his came out that year I was born , also I just looked it up to see what moves came out that year and one is titled " To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar" LOL

Uh, I'm not sure if anyone in the comments has explained this, but what the saying 'Riding dirty' means is driving in a car that has drugs or guns in it. Police officers are always 'trying to catch me Ridin dirty' so trying to find drugs and weaponry in the car.... so yeahhhh *scratches head* 😅

My names pretty weird. TyQuria. Ty from my dad Tyrone because I'm the first born. The Qu from a woman named Queenie who helped my mom a lot during the pregnancy, and the Ra the fit it all together. But the Ria is part of my legal name because my dad actually spelled my name wrong so instead of TyQura it's legally TyQuria. Ty-Cure-ra.

my parents were gonna name me holiday bc my last name is ying so it'd sound like holiday inn but they decided on Miranda bc they thought it was cool that my initials would spell my. they also like that my dad's first initial, my brothers first initial, and my first initial spell ATM. so....my dad, brother, and I are my mom's ATM xD

Can you guys do a lunch break about age gaps in dating. I have lately been seeing a lot of relationships where someone under 22 is dating guys in their thirties and wonder what is the mentality is between the younger person and the older person. I'm Cambodian so my name is Kunsorya. The Kun part is my dad's dad's first name and Sorya means the sun. But my mom wanted to name me Maria because she was watching a Mexican soap opera when she was pregnant with me lol!

I was supposed to be named after my father, Bernardo AND my mother, Angelita. My name the whole time my mom was pregnant was Bernard-Angelo Ilagan Venua, but then I was born and while signing the birth certificate, they realized they would have to teach a 4 year old how to spell this name. They took away Bernard-Angelo and took Brian from a book.

When my mom was in labor at the hospital my dad kept on saying "breath- Breath, honey" to help distract her from the pain. One of the doctors walked in while the baby birthing process was at play and said "what do you want your child's name to be?" My dad disregarded the questions, still yelling "BREATH". The doctor soon left the room thinking he heard the name "R-E-I-D"; When I was born, the doctor came in again and said do you want it spelled "Reed or Reid". My mom and dad looked at each other confused. The doctor repeated himself telling us he must of misheard the name accidently. My mom looked at my dad for a quick second, and repeated the word "Reid" ,that's it! Both looking back at the doctor in compliance, "Reid; it's Perfect!"

My name Lui Xia was supposed to be a "Chinese" version of Louisa May Alcott, an American writer. My dad made my Chinese name as "立虾 (Lixia - yes, the xia represented shrimp)“ but thankfully my sister changed it to "丽霞" People still called me shrimp in primary and secondary school although I wrote it as 丽霞... OTL

I was supposed to be named after my mother but a month before I was due my dad decided he didn't like that. Therefore, my mom sat on the couch and watched the TV show "True life" and there was a girl name Amaya and she really liked that name. My mom is known for wanting to be different, all of my sisters have different names too, so she didn't want to go with that spelling. On American Idol, there was a contestant name Amya and she liked that spelling, so my name ended up being Amaya spelled Amya.

Omg~ I'm actually eating my lunch while watching this~!!! Yay~ interesting topic guys~ ^_^ Also I know how you feel when Starbucks or a friend or someone spells your name wrong! My aunts till this day spell my name wrong and I'm 25 now! I think they spell it how it sounds like in Korean! Story where my name came from. I asked my mom one day what the meaning is and she said she got it from the Bible! Since my whole family are Christians! Also my English assignment was to find the origin of my name which I found out that it's a type of Hebrew tree! I asked the same about my Korean name and... same response! 😂😂😂 I think it was last year, I finally found what my Korean name means from one of my friends and coincidentally, when Buzzfeed did a video on the origin of their names for Asian Pacific American Awareness Month one of them had the same Korean name as me!

My German dad lived in Russia & read English books. When I was born, he remembered a characters name from an English book & called me Ellen (not famous in this English 'version' in Russia at that time). In Russia people call me Ella because they don't know the name Ellen. Here in Germany my name is easily remembered & called a beautiful name. I would never change it because it's from a book & my dad gave it to me ^^

My parents were into studying different cultures, and my mom really wanted my name to start with an A (yes, we are Asian, lol), but she wanted a "unique" spelling for my name, so she went with the French version of Amy/Aimee. As for what I'd name my kids, I too liked the name Aidan and Christopher, and if I had a daughter, I'd name her either Akane (after the Ranma 1/2 character) or Amelie (after the French film/character). My Name is derived from my Mother's name. Her name is Ramona, which was followed by her nickname, Monina. She only changed one letter to create my name, Monica. So I'm named after her. My brother's name fell into the same boat and was named after our father, Rogerio, into his name, more Americanized, Roger.

My whole family has the name "Catherine" and everyone wanted me to be called Kate but my mom was a rebel and named me Kitty. Everyone was pissed. They even spelled it differently than it is normal in my country (they spell it "Kitti"), so all I remember from my childhood is getting mad at people for not spelling my name correctly (It is still one of my pet peeves).

Originally, my dad wanted to name me Leah (after Princess Leia --from Star Wars), but then my older sister said he should just put a T in front of the Leah (since my immediate family members names start with T). So it became TLeah [with no hyphen]. I love my name and won't change it, besides when ppl can't pronounce it I just used my Princess Leia example and they usually get it.
