The system 76 UL has a beautiful warm sound, very special indeed. That’s my fave.❤
A sound evaluation is always a matter of personal taste. I find more important is the feel of the player himself.

For sure, but listening is a good starting point if you don’t have the chance to try them yourself.
I think the curved had a noticeably "fatter/fuller" sound. They all sounded really good though. No wrong choice really.

I agree.
For tone, I would rank them as follows - 1) curved, 2) 76 straight, 3) Le Bravo. Further, both of the straight horns seemed more “squirrely”, like the pitch wasn’t centered. The curved just sounded like it felt more solid. I have a Yanagisawa curved, and a Viking (now defunct) straight soprano, and the curved is more refined, but also a little bit less expressive, so maybe your feeling for the straight hornis influenced that way too. Curved sopranos inmy experience are more resistant in general - not in a bad way, it’s just that you have to work harder to get a big sound.

Ok thanks Steve.
Absolutely loved the curved sax. It sounded so mellow and even sweeter than the straight System 76. I do have a P Mauriat Tenor System 76 that I will never change. Nice review and excellent playing.
love the curved most... but you make them all sing Nigel!

Thanks for letting me know. The curved has a lot of fans!
Good review Nigel. The curved 76 was my favorite. Especially with the backing track.

Cheers. So many positive votes for the curved!
I actually preferred the curved soprano the best. The Le Bravo was ok, but it didn't do it for me, especially in the low notes. The straight 76 had a nice core sound to it. But the curved 76 had a nice balance of bright and dark sounds. It also had a good core sound to it. I'd like to see hear that one compared with the Yani curved soprano and another Taiwanese-made curved sop (like a Chateau or Antigua Winds or Cannonball) since they seem to be the only ones left making curved ones other than Yanagisawa. Great comparison!

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed this test and I agree, a comparison with yanigasawa would be really interesting.
I like the sound of the straight System 76 the most, it has the brightest sound of the three, then the curved which is a little warmer than the straight counterpart; and the least, the Le bravo. I am hardly attracted to one body sax though. Good review. Nice job.

@@McGillMusicSaxSchool I have a quick question should I play alto sax first and then go to bari sax or go straight to bari sax, this is my first time playing sax.
Welcome done Nigel.
System 76 beautiful. That’s why I’ve got one 😊

Lots of votes for the curved 76!
The curved definitely is the best. The two straight horns have a shrillness to the sound that the curved one does not. The curved sounds sweet instead of shrill and the sound is more thick.
Defo the curved 🎷xx
The System 76 and the Curve sound identical a bit bright and nice. I like them both.
Curved 76 is better for me..
