Choosing the right infill is more important than you think... strength of print, flexibility, or even looks for timelapses..
Thanks to Bambu Studio I can check before each print exactly what infill i want to use..
We used @SUNLU PLA+ Purple for our infill tiles 😍
We love 3D printing to solve our everyday problems... if you've got any that 3d printing could solve, let us know in the comments....

Gyroid and cubic sub are are the strongest and really all you need. Gyroid is really strong for it's volume so you can go lighter on infill %
Now give us a sequel where you actually test and find your preferred infill.
how did printing black rectangles help you decide which infill you needed to use? Surely you should use a benchmark model that has a bunch of different aspects to it that you can test with each inflil. So a vertical flat surface, a horizontal flat surface, a sloped 45 degree surface, a domed surface to test surface finish quality. a section for a captive nut, a section of bridging, a section for testing rigidity in different dimensions.

I prefer the look of the gyroid, and its usually strongest in all directions in my experience. I'll pick something else depending on what forces I expect the part to see. (most of my prints are fabrication related)

Rectilinear is just better in almost all cases. You don't even see the infill once the part is done lol. I never use anything but line/rectilinear because those tend to be faster prints with better strength at 10-20% infill. It's fun to mess around when you're an amateur, but you learn quick to stick to the known best :) watch CNCkitchen for his analysis on infills and other settings

Do we get to see the rest of the video/test?
After hours of handcrafting the perfect balance of speed/weight/cost/strength into my calculations I snap back into reality, realize I have two children under the age of 5, double the number of perimeters, set it to 30% gyroid, set the superglue down next to my machine, click print and forget about it until tomorrow. The finesse I've lost in print prep skills, I've more than gained in print surgery. I've become one with the coating of superglue on my index and thumb.
Wait, can you print an infill holder with infill or do you print it with 0% Infill. ALSO nice press.

Its the perfect mixture for flexibility and strength
After learning the smallest amount of composite design: A good chunk of the forces on the(composite) part go through the skin and having a 10mm thick carbon part is expensive and heavier than having a core material instead. The core mostly gets compressive/tension forces. Looking at 3d printing and some of the prints ive broken through the years (also bending unfinished prints) shows that the forces do seem be put through the wall and those tension/compression forces on the infill. Having an infill pattern with the best compressive strength per weight with decent adhesion to the walls seems to be best for me so far. + Im kinda leaning toward the thought that infill is, in most applications, pretty much just internal support structures.

I personally use cubic infill for everything. You can print as low as 10% infill and still have decent rigidity, and the structure works with every print.
@callsignapollo_
10 ай бұрын
Wall and top/bottom thickness will matter over infill density 9 times out of 10. The infill often ony serves to support layers above while printing. In the time ive been printing the only time infill has had a major effect on print strength was in the rigidity of flexible materials
I’m sure someone has mentioned it already, but you can just go into the surface options and set top layers to 0 and it will leave it open to expose the infill.
TBH when I clicked on the video, I thought they were purple mattresses
Gyroid is my go-to for most

Reminds me of glaze test tiles for pottery. It's good to have a test sample so you don't turn your final product into a test tile.
3d print a holder with every infill
Adaptive cubic is always the best
I want these on my wall.
Vast majority of the strength comes from the thickness of the walls, infill is just roof support material
Most of the times I use the "gyroid" infill, it's pretty robust, and make your 3d prints hard even at 10% infill.
In Cura to do different infill patterns use a support blocker where you want the different pattern and then use "modify settings for overlaps" to select the infill pattern for that area/part
that casual destruction of prime was personal
1) Hexagons 2) Triangles 3) Inferior shapes

I want them as stamps!!
this is what adhd feels like
No need to pause the print, just define top layers=0. Also for infill i tend to use straight lines like in qubic infill, because they are easy to print. Gyroid for example produces lots of gcode due to constant change of direction. Since im printing functional parts, stability is key, and more exotic infills like support qubic are not used by me.
You should strength test these to find out which are the strongest
There's a great video on this by CNC kitchen that actually does tests and doesn't waste our time or plastic.
You could use those as costars or as a hot dog holder to place on the table or to put sauce in or put magnets on the back and use them as fridge magnets
