It really fits with the game how you always have a choice to murder everyone or not

I love this so much. This entire thing perfectly represents Sans as a character, especially the bit at the end about how the player's not forced to be evil, they "make the choice to be." Love it ❤

reminds me of how many people talk about "oh frisk was possessed by chara in the genocide route." no, no they weren't. you, the player, personally made the choice to commit genocide. chara didn't do shit, you just summoned them at the end of the game due to your pre-existing overwhelming murderous intent.

This just reminds me how tragic of a character Sans is on the genocide route. His backstory is still largely a mystery, but it’s pretty much been outright confirmed through hints in the game that he comes from another world, and that he’ll never be able to see the people from said world ever again. He somehow ends up in the Undertale world with presumably his brother being the only thing he has left from his home. And yet he’s just expected to go on with this new life, to readjust despite losing nearly everything he ever had. ‘you must really wanna go home, huh? i know the feeling, bucko.’ But he still keeps going, befriending many of the underground’s monsters, becoming a beloved comedian and Grillby’s regular. Things start to look brighter for Sans until in an instant, everything is taken from him once again. Despite this, when he finally comes face to face with the one responsible, the murderer that wiped out almost all other life, he still gives them a chance. He ponders if even the worst person can change, taking notes from his brother’s philosophy, and gives the player a chance to go back and reset the timeline by ‘sparing’ them. In fact, even after everything you did, he admits that he actually wanted to be friends with you. He’s the only character in the game that understands your true nature: that you’re not some kind of heartless monster that takes pleasure in harming others. No, he’s the only one that understands the real reason why you set out on your bloody rampage in the first place: ‘you’re not doing this out of any desire for good or evil. you’re doing this because you think you can. and because you can… you have to.’ The amount of understanding he treats you with despite everything you did to him is absurd. He knows that you’re not pure evil, and he genuinely wants to be able to get to know you. But he also knows that if he holds back against you, his world as he knows it will be erased. And then he would really have nothing left. So he still keeps fighting until his last breath. Because he refuses to watch as everything is taken from him for a second time.

Like I said on tumblr.. this is the best undertale animation I’ve seen, probably ever! It represents the characters so perfectly whilst also capturing the entire essence of the game and the genocide run, it also taps into a song that hasn’t been used in this context before! It’s amazing

@@cakeeyplayz personally the way i see it is the player attempting to be "injury" or Chara in this context. You want to be disconnected, and as such would assume that it has nothing to do with you your first few times doing the NM route. Frisk is seen for the rest of the animation after being called out which makes it seem like an instance shut down of said idea.

YESSSS I've had this song saved for an Undertale animation for so long but this is way better than I could've done! Using Papyrus as the "Caffeinate!" is so clever, and I love the back and forth "But I am!" "No!" as they're actively fighting, like he's trying to talk Chara down

VERY WELL MADE DUDE! It feels oddly refreshing to see someone draw sans without the flaming blue eye and with a moulth that opens (No judgement on those who draw him like that, it's just a bit repetitive. So I'm happy to see a canon one 🥲)

something neat i noticed is that exactly when frisk transitions to chara the video is 20 seconds in which is coincidentally the max LV you can get in game and the point of no return in genocide (unless you reload an old save)

I love looping this to show my *LOVE* and stimulation of what it feels like to be held in the loop like Sans. I like to think that first sound in the beginning is an indication of the timeline being reset, and Sans opening his eyes is an acknowledge to that.

The first sound also sounds like when the player enters their name to begin the game, which is why we don't hear it anymore.

The thing that i love about this animation specifically, besides it being perfect. You got Sans' eyes right. Like how his eye magic works and like how he only uses it when like emphasis of "you did a bad" or using strong magic. Like its the little things in this animation that really make me love it so.

Eyyy thanks! I like it when people do sans's eye accurately. I noticed it in the 'Down to the Bone' remaster, with them using mostly the dark eyes and the blue/yellow only once in the judgement hall. It was really cool, so I tried to do something similar here :)

@@jazzebee Yes exactly, we had like 7 years of fan stuff where he always uses his blue eye when he's mad, and half the time nobody ever did they yellow flashing with it. Ive been listening to this version because now i equate the original song with this video and i think you did it amazingly.

@@jazzebee yeah! it's honestly quite rare to see, especially with all the AUs (most of which just isolate sans) when all i want to see is the original cast and how they interact with each other. not only that but the few people i've seen that actually do work with the vanilla cast often mischaracterize the characters or widely blow them out of proportion from the original intention. i have nothing against aus, i see the appeal, but undertale's are just.. often repetitive imo. anyways that was quite long winded but your animation in itself is gorgeous and i enjoy how well made this is, especially with things that irk me regarding portrayals of sans such as his eye and smile but you nailed it all here ^^

I am extremely thankful to you dear animator for keeping Sans as close to the original as you could, especially the always smiling part. Also all in all awesome animation!

I think through playing Undertale, people forget what Determination really is. Determination is the ability to make a choice and follow through with it. This is expressed so well when you “make the choice to be” evil and kill everyone.

As an Undertale fan I love this especially the part "you made the choice to be."
