Everyone here seems to fail to realize... Eevee learns copycat. It's not sine uber-special Eevee that is able to just use like any move. It literally shows it seeing the move, then copying it with copycat. It really ain't that deep.

Fun Fact: Gen 8 is the only generation where Eevee can learn Copycat... but that's at level 30, which is not a recommended level to evolve an Eevee, as they miss on some good attacks.

Actually, it IS rare because... well, Eevee was never able to do that before. In Gen 4, when the move was introduced, the move was mostly seen on baby Pokémon (Smoochum, Igglybuff, Cleffa, Happiny, Mime Jr. Riolu and Bonsly) plus Plusle, Minun, Spinda, Skitty, Mr. Mime, Sudowoodo and Mesprit. The level-up list remained the same until Gen 7, when Marshadow and Mimikyu were added, though the Egg move set did suffer changes (Buneary and Oshawatt in Gen 5, Azurill, Purrloin, Zorua, Flabebe and Swirlix in Gen 6) Finally, in Gen 8, the only new evolutionary lines that learned the move (The Pokémon whose preevolutions learned the move, like Jynx, Clefairy or Delcatty, had it added as a Level 1 move, and Marill had it added as an Egg move) were the Wooloo line... and the Eevee line. Eevee and the Eeveelutions are the only pre-Gen 5 Pokémon who had the move added as a Level-up move AFTER the move was introduced. I think the idea with Chloe's Eevee was to introduce this change in Eevee's move set by making it seem "special".

Anyone else love how Eevee basically turned into a baby around Espeon and Umbreon 😂

If you think about eevees whole gimic is it changes evolution depending on certain circumstances, copy cat is actually a perfect move for it

Copycat and Mimic are moves that have some interesting potential story-wise. Like, having a Pokemon 'learn by doing' in an interesting sense does make for a cool little shtick. Like having a Minun or Spinda see a Rock-Type throw a Stone Edge, and them go "Huh, is that how you do it?" is really neat to me! Though, I find it weird that she talks about it as if Eevee can only manage moves based on it's evolutions... I mean, yeah, the types all add up, but at the same time, a few of the moves weren't done by Eeveeloutions (namely Yamper, Ponyta, and Piplup).

I think the subs are not as accurate? I think what Chloe is trying to say is eevee sometimes manages to use her evolved forms moves based on the context where she is saw using ice beam alongside glaceon. I think its the context is missed out in the translation so it sounded more accurate in japanese but weirder in english.

We had Red’s Eevee that used to be able to evolve and devolve within its first three base evolution. Although Eevee can learn copycat in the game, we don't see them use it in anime often.

That poor Pelipper didn't deserve that. That double 4x super effective Spark combo *deleted* it.

It can mimic any pokemon ability. It can't evolve with a revolution stone. And has that goofy smile....yep it's a Ditto playing a cruel dragged out prank on it's trainer.

I only just realized, after being familiar with Naruto for nearly 2 fucking decades, that "sharingan" literally has "Sharing" in it. Because they're "sharing" moves. fml

People. In the Vaporeon episode, the trainer literally says "it's using copycat."

"She's just using copycat" okay but I feel like the whole point is that this eevee is DAMN GOOD at using copycat

Eevee’s just trying out different moves to figure out what she wants to evolve into.

I can't get over how cute these pokemon are.

Damn nobody here actually plays the game do they. "Its a special eeveeeeee it can magic it has 300 moves and it can fly and it can beat god with its face" Or it knows the move copycat which is like, one of the first things it learns when you catch it

yes and no, its just copycat yes, but no thats not the first thing it learns unless you catch your eevee at lvl 30. And no, eevee only learn copycat starting at gen 8, it cant use copycat at any previous gen according to bulbapedia. So technically her eevee is special, its the first or one of the first eevee shown with gen 8 moveset

@@maybeperhaps2788 well, its a gen 8 eevee, caught in galar, its gonna have copycat. Her eevee is only special cause it cant evolve. Still proves my point, yes it couldnt learn it before but it still can now, and is in the games, and nobody seems to see that. I wouldnt know myself, dont like the eeveelutions anymore so i only catch them for the dex

@@greave6720 copycatting their moves in and of itself isnt that big of a deal, its mostly that it doesnt evolve which makes people assume its supposed to represent partner eevee. The main reason I think its special is because in the episode with espeon it used the same clairvoyance as espeon, which isnt a move but just an innate ability it has in the anime, and it also did it almost a full day after seeing espeon do it so it wouldnt have been recent enough for copycat to work

I really thought we'd see a dragon type eevee next. Just because Eevee at base is normal already.... and it's "balanced" but able to tilt into any other type based off of being a normal type. I really thought we'll either see it go totally opposite which is Ghost type... or Flying. Only because the eeveelutions follow the stones in the game. We have all the stones matching the evolutions besides dawn and dusk. Dawn makes frosslass, and gallade (both can fly) so maybe a flying type eevee. and dusk-- obviously ghost. So I'm thinking maybe hers will be a flying type eevee... if it gets a new evolution... Water: Vaporeon Fire: Flareon Thunder: Jolteon Moon: Umbreon Sun: Espeon Leaf: Leafeon Ice: Glaceon Shiny: Sylveon Dawn: Zephyeon? Galeon?? Idk Dusk: Wraitheon? Speceon? Idk.

Any pokemon: *does a move* Eevee: hold my item.

@@chillinsquirtle Ash and his Pikachu were both based off of Pokémon yellow, and if memory even serves correctly its either it can't or the game technically forces you to not be able to evolve Pikachu, only work around I can think of is trading it to someone else

If I was in the Pokémon anime, I'll catch a Swirlix that knows Copycat after hatching it from an egg

The Japanese names are a little different from english ones but i guess they make more sense, like psychokinesis instead of psychic is more specific on what type of attack it's meant to be, technically psychic could probably be any psychic ability

My thoughts... Eevee learned copycat (which only became a possibility is Gen 8) and can not evolve because it knows this move. Maybe an Eevee that knows copycat and copies a move from all the other Eevee evolutions will be able to evolve into a more advanced normal type. I feel like that is where the story is heading.

Except that Eevee seems to use Sentai Gears (like the Zenkaigers) more than Ranger Keys. As far as Decade goes... let's just blame Grookey on Decade. Decade is the destroyer of worlds, and Grookey ruins everything.

Fun fact: Chloe's eevee is a female/girl, as seen on the tail. (If you don't know what I mean, it's the tail tip's pattern. The male's/boy's tail tip is more spiky then the female.)

Looking at the remaining types, here are possible names... Normalion - Normal, Steelion - Steel, Rockion -Rock, Sludgion - Poison, Terrion - Ground, and Dragion - Dragon. Can't see evolutions for Flying, Fighting, Ghost, and Bug though.

So [Copycat] is basically Kakashi's Sharingan: copies the living hell out of other Pokemons. Goddamn! With an ability like that, who needs Evolutions?

One thing I always despised about the Pokemon Anime, at 1:55 we have an Ursarang and Noctowl beaten by a "Combination Attack" of Not-Very-Effective and Immune. Seriously... It shatters a layer of immersion, but hey our good guys are winning; ever since a Geodude died to Thundershock.

the new region is gonna be based off Spain and dragons are popular in Spanish folklore so there’s a chance of getting a new Eevee evolution that’s a dragon type

Honestly, moments like these makes Journeys look promising… but then every time I go to watch is Goh completely ruins the entire thing and turns me off from the show completely.
