Chiropractic Care Cures Hiatal Hernia?

I've been asked to comment about a Doctor of Chiropractic in Houston, TX who claims he can cure hiatal hernias with a few days of adjustments. I watched some of his videos and spoke to a former patient who reached out to me after his treatment there. While this patient "loved" how he felt while at the clinic in Houston, the relief didn't last.
I believe this doctor is an excellent chiropractor, so don't get me wrong there.
Here's my problem, actually there are 2 problems:
1. Everyone (at least in the videos I viewed) gets the same series of treatments. There's nothing wrong with them but they are general, mobilization techniques that are not personalized to the individual. They are also a bit aggressive especially for those who may have lax ligaments. We perform chiropractic and physical therapy treatment here at Root Cause. We specialize in personal, individualized care and I am therefore wary of general treatments that are delivered in the same way to each patient.
2. The doctor encourages people to eat whatever they want. I heard him tell a patient to go eat a pepperoni pizza. The patient I met with told me he was encouraged to eat ice cream. The chiropractor says he wants the patients to "test" their stomach and thereby go eat a big, unhealthy meal. He even makes restaurant recommendations on his videos.
In the doctor's defense, the patients' whose videos I saw hadn't been suffering long with their condition. Also, they weren't necessary complaining of GERD or acid reflux. If there is little to no digestive issues occurring, physical treatment on its own can definitely improve the movement of the diaphragm, mid-back, etc. And if that's all that's wrong, then this type of treatment will yield success.
But, and this is a big but - if the patient has extensive digestive issues, then physical treatment alone will not provide anything more than temporary relief.
I know it sounds great to be told that you can eat whatever you want now that your nervous system is functioning more normally, but if there's a digestive component, that relief won't last.

We've been been specializing in this for 15 years, I wrote a book on it, and we offer BOTH internal and physical treatment, personalized to each patient.

But, what causes a Hiatal Hernia? I suffer now with breathlessness,EOE, severe anxiety, Heart irregularities which I never had before, and blood pressure is higher, and drugs don’t lower it. I’m contemplating surgery because I suffered over 10 yrs. I forgot to mention that doctors discovered that I now have a Shatski’s ring and not sure if the the Hiatal Hernia caused it. This is a horrible diseases. Need relief now.

Wish you where in the uk as im having problems even finding a chiropractor who will treat this condition for me.. Ive been diagnosed with a 2cm sliding hiatal hernia and have gone from being a fit 56 year old cycling and doing kick boxing to someone who can’t even train now as this just irritates the hernia and makes it worse.. Only option is surgery which i dont want to do but I’m struggling dealing with this😢

I had this done by 2 chiropractors for 6 to 8 months and this didn't work for me. Im guessing she is talking about Dr. Johnson in Houston. I always wondered that myself why he would tell people that you can eat anything you want and not make lifestyle changes.

Yes, that is who I was referring to. I didn't want to use his name in the video. The "pull down" technique is one we use as well as other physical methods, but without addressing the root cause of gut imbalance, it's not going to resolve the problem. If you'd like any assistance consider calling us for a consultation: 727-335-0400. We'd be delighted to help.

I would love to try your program so badly... But, the last 10 years has racked up about 75k in debt from this living hell... Everything i think will help, is never covered vmby insurance and cost a ton. Especially in todays economy.
