Hollywood needs to stop remaking serious tv series and turning them into comedy garbage

They can't help it. They like ruining shows from my childhood.

Larry Wilcox is right. They should have left the original show alone. It was done well and respectful for the Hwy Patrol Officers. This new movie is Junk. Wow.. Erik Estrada makes a cameo appearance? Erik you can do better then that. Larry Wilcox you showed your a person of integrity and better judgement then Erik Estrada. 👍🏻

In fairness to Estrada, he likely didn't know anything the movie's whole concept. All he knew was likely details about his particular role. Very doubtful WB or Sheppard gave him a copy of the entire script. Plus, Estrada isn't exactly picky when it comes to roles.

I respect Larry Wilcox for being honest. He may not have spoken out if he hadn't been asked. From the trailer, the movie seems to mock highway patrolman and law enforcement. I won't be going to see it either.

You can't replace the original with bad comedy.

I think it says a lot about the decades the movies were produced in. Erik Estrada agreeing to a cameo is slimy. Those that think Larry would be more positive if HE had a cameo? I doubt it.

I was almost caught watching the film on a plane, I had to hurriedly put porn on to avoid being too embarrassed.

Larry wilcox was spot on ! It looks like a joke on wheels

I am with Mr. Wilcox! I just saw the trailer and had the same thoughts! That movie was nothing but a MASSIVE INSULT to the original. It was like they said "what was the movie like and what was the message or moral and let's make it the complete opposite."!!! I am ashamed for Mr. Estrada for having anything to do with that.

I love The TV show but the movie doesn't look like it will be any good.

I saw the film at my local library now for some reason these pulled it off the shelf

They also did this to Duke's of Hazzard and Starsky and Hutch.

❤️CHIPS Saw Eric at Valley Fair, MN with my 9 yo Son & had photo taken & autographed Low & behold my Son is a motorcycle cop 😊 Also does the motorcycle training for cops wanting to be motor cops 👍

Just like the Dukes of Hazzard movie, after seeing clips I was like never gonna watch it. This show is why I became a cop for a short time. And though I no longer wear the badge, the show is still close to my heart because it is part of my childhood. I will never watch the movie! You couldn’t Waterboard me long enough to make me do it.

@@GoLakers3900 well, when I left the East Coast, I took a leave of absence to come out to the West Coast to take care of my sister after an accident. I decided to stay, but I did not want to become a cop in LA. Now I’m 50 years old and just I don’t know, I’m too old for it now.

Larry got it right. This film is an embarrassment to both the real Chips and the original TV series. I was expecting to see a family film but instead got a load of adult rubbish.

I love the movie even though I haven't seen ever episode of Chips 99 except for one.

I have seen it. Once. I have watched the made for tv movie CHiPs 99 a bunch of times.

What I'm seeing, I'm glad that I didn't go and see the movie.

I feel like if this guy got a cameo in the movie he wouldn't be saying anything bad about it.

No he wouldn't. The movie was a flop and piece of manure. It was made for $25 million and barely broke even. It has some of the worst reviews ever. It was Dax Sheppard's attempt to cash in on the Super Troopers style of "cop" comedy (just not funny though), but with an iconic brand that people his age and older grew up on. If Shepard or Warner Brothers had done a TV reboot or remake instead and kept to the original concept people loved, I think it would have been more well received. Instead he made something that has joined the ranks of "Gigli" and "Glitter".

I want more Riddick movies and less Triple X. Do not DIS da Diesel, Vin Diesel that is, swimming pools movie stars (Beverly Hillbillies reference). It was not like the Series was high brow, it was a show of working class jobs, bad drivers and criminals with a moral compass and poor acting (and or writing)... and I liked the series.

Why do they dumb down all the cool old tv shows. >:(

I like the movie for what it was but It was not like the tv show at all and Larry is right I think I liked the movie that came out in 1998 that had the cast from the show in it

Erik Estrada was the Star of the show

Saw the movie, laughed a bit (I do not laugh easily). Was an insult to the integrity of the Series and does not reflect on any law enforcement agencies, but it is a comedy such as Super Troopers, Smokey and the Bandit, Hardcastle and McCormick, and countless others. That Wilcox would be offended for not being invited to any part of it, and would cast Estrada in a bad light because he was invited tells me he irked over not being invited (as to what he said to get him the "cold shoulder", and is not telling the full story (or not being allowed to.) Of course Inside Edition would not want to air that. It is not like IE is known for integrity and true journalism but know for sensationalism and provocativeness. As the movie is rated R, it was not like people were taking their kids to see it and were surprised, on the contrary, fans were revved up to hate the movie before it was released. The makers of the movie knew that would be the case and counted on it to put people in the seats. A long list of movies can be provided that knew that the garbage can they were opening would draw people like flies. This puts butts in seats...The U.S. Catholic Church threw its weight against the controversial film “The Last Temptation of Christ” Tuesday with an official church rating of “morally offensive” and condemnations from three California bishops and two prominent nuns. No press is bad press, bad publicity is free and that is better that paying for advertising.

Yeah I don't blame Wilcox for hating this, I hate it too, actaully who wouldnt? This movie is so far from the source by a long shot

People being salty is funny af 💀 When the movie did better than the entire show, made more money, overall did the show wrong, people stop talking. Reviews were better, the only reviews that were bad were then ones who watched the show.

It was absolutely HORRIBLE. The 2 actors were sweaty, unkempt & needed haircuts; they acted like fools. The CHP is a professional law enforcement organization. This movie was just pit gross& not funny @ all.

Sorry but I cannot believe they made a mockery of the show "CHiPs". How could they have done such a thing....this movie shouldn't have been allowed to be cast, I'm not impressed. Larry Wilcox I stand behind you when it comes to voicing your opinion ....I'm a big fan of the show California Highway Patrol (CHiPs) back in the 70's. Shame on the producer of the Dumbest idea of trying to reinvent the original show.....

I seen it lastnight and was disappointed. It is nothing like the series at all. It was ok but really stupid in alot of parts. It shouldnt have been named CHiPs at all.

Rubbish. I only saw the trailer, and was utterly disappointed. At least Erik Estrada had some sex appeal, but this new guy (Don't know his name, sorry)...nah. CHiPs 99 was pretty decent, but this one... Not surprised it flopped. And they were wrong to not invite Larry to the premiere, so disrespectful.

I agree with Larry Wilcox..... I'm sorry I hate to be a Class A Jerk about this... but the good thing I didn't go see it back in 2017 ; mainly it because 1. It ruins the purpose of the Classic '70s TV Series Show. 2. This version of this movie is completely tasteless... and dishonorable.... widely circulatedly dumbest to the extent...... I'm sorry..... But the 1970s version of CHiPs is clearly much more better and action pack entertainment drama...on itself by merits..... And yes I agree with Larry Wilcox 100%....

bucky468 been watching episodes the last couple of years. Now that I am older it is kind of cringeworthy. I roll my eyes a lot. But it takes me back to when I was a kid. The gun thing is interesting. Thought the same thing, I think I saw only one episode when someone even pulled a gun out. The guy call Bear.

I heard he left because him and Erick Estrada didn't like each other. Erick Estrada left at the beginning of season 5 because he wanted more pay, that's why you see Bruce Jenner as Larry Wilcox partner but Erick Estrada ended up coming back.
