The ending truck chase scenes were filmed on Kagel Canyon road in LA County.[12406 Kagel Canyon road as well as other locations along this road.Police car and truck crash at ending was at 12713 Kagel Canyon road in L A county.]

I've driven a Ford C series from that era with a Cat 3208. They could have been descending a cliff and just let off the throttle and the truck would have rolled to a stop. Damn thing could barely get out of its own way.

"Sorry officer. It's a Ford. Lost brakes." - "Understandable."

I didn't remember that was so funny. Of course as child I watched it with the most serious concentration, the whole serie was so gripping.

I had a Kawasaki KZ when this show was around and I assure you you couldn't put a ten foot lead on me in a Corvette

Landing gear on trailer magically lowered when he uncoupled. No one ever cranked the landing gear down.

When me and my friend were 9 years old in 1978 I had a babysitter and she was 17 and she was driving me and my friend home from the beach in her little two door car and it didn't have air-conditioning so it was really hot inside the car. My babysitter was driving to fast around this curve and she screamed girls hang on and me and my friend screamed as the car ran off the road and flipped over and over down a huge hill with me and my friend in the backseat and we were scratched up from the breaking glass because both of us were wearing only our bikini tops and bottoms and both of us were barefooted. When me and my friend was 9 years old we always would wear our bikinis and go barefooted all the time everywhere even riding in the car

@@imadrifter Now my teenage daughter is 16 years old and my other daughter is 8 years old and my one night she was at her friends house swimming in her pool. The teenage sister was driving both girls to the store in her little car. A emergency person called me and said that my daughter was in a car crash.

The cars both flip by hitting the one car and the 3rd car flips and the he hit doesn't move. We see the one suspect do something to unhitch the trailer and later you see the trailer with the landing gear down. But the suspect never let it down.

@@bcroadgeek5404 That’s not true at all. They were very common, even in the sixties. They weren’t over-the-shoulder belts, though, you couldn’t tell in these scenes if they used them or not.

They released three CD's of CHiPs music a few years back (corresponding to seasons 2-3), but they must be out of print bc they're listed for over $100 each on Amazon. I'm glad I bought them when they were at normal prices.

These scenes always cracked me up as I had a new Kawasaki KZ at the time and I assure you I could put my front tire within 6 inches of the back bumper of any Corvette or Trans Am of the day under any condition let alone a Semi Tractor I am not sure what John and Ponch rode but mine did 0 to 60 in 5.7 and quarter mile in 12.8 with 138 MPH top speed I didn't follow Corvettes I blew past them with ease.

CHP during the early years of the show didn't have the KZ1000s but ran the smaller 900s.

How dare they trash that Pontiac GTO!

If you are a trucker you should be laughing your ass off. Even in the seventies , air brakes if they fail automatically lock up on commercial vehicles. When the pressure drops ,the spring brakes engage and bring the vehicle to a stop.

No it was a watch commander who came in for an episode they called him “Apple bates” and he was hard on the Chp till he realized they are the best officers around! The episode is called “the watch commander”

Don't forget the air line was severed when they pulled loose from the trailer. You also need air to use the clutch to put the truck in gear.
