Organised by Yesterbus County Durham
Enthusiasts Mystery Tour
Just a random event that happens as listed on the internet
Just turn up at the depot as requested free parking and have a great journey and donations to the charity as you depart the chosen vehicle.
Tonights chosen vehicle was :
PPT 446P (L14) Mk1 Leyland Leopard /Plaxton Derwent B55F bodywork.
New to Summerson Bros with the fleet name "The Eden", passing to Bygone buses in Kent.
PPT 446P was bought for preservation by Steve Foster passing to Graeme Scarlett at Eden Bus Services. Displayed today in the memory of Ken Nesbitt.
Operated and driven tonight by Graeme Scarlett
Guest drivers Mark Dolan and Alan Johnson. We left the Eden depot and drove through Shildon for a fuel stop then onwards to Middridge to Rushyford and then headed north up the A167 to Thinford to drive via little towns bipping the horn to remember local independent bus operators depots no longer trading but never forgotten.
These villages included:
Coxhoe
Quarrington Hill
Cassop
Wingate
Station Town
Hutton Henry
Then on route to our final destination with a brief comfort stop at Hartlepool train station to see the coast line and enjoy the sights and sounds a fish and chips that Seaton Carew had to offer.
Fish and chips eaten (with curry sauce if your posh) washed down with a carbonated drink of choice we then headed back to the depot as we watched and chased the light of the setting sun and guest drivers Mark Dolan took the wheel from Seaton Carew bus terminus and then handed over the drivers seat to Alan Johnson at Middridge to take L14 back to depot.
Many thanks to Graeme Scarlett and his team / Yesterbus to make these events possible.
