Chip installation in a Revoslot

A look at Chip installations in a Revoslot classic and standard. The classic has an SP15C slot.it chip installed and the Porsche 911 GT1 has a SSD chip with the hatch cover removed.

I recently put an SP15c chip into an SCX car usi ng the plugs so I could remove the chip, but it was so much more difficult. Way to much wire even after I shortened them up as much as I could. I also used a larger infrared light I put through the chassis. After all of that, the car would not change lanes. Back to the drawing board I guess.

Ive spent time and money chipping 3 slot it cars, and attempting to tune them to work on my tighter home track...............there's no advantage over a slightly tuned carrera car.......the slot it can be tuned down on power with digital but then it still drags bottom, and has a hard time staying on track................home track racing is way different than running on a big wood track.

In order to make the infrared led work you have to enlarge the halo in the chassis because the chip is higher than the bottom of the chassis. The infrared light emits a cone shaped light and is blocked if too high. Don’t forget that the soldering pads for a wired led are on the bottom of the chip (under the front wires to the guide) and are polarity sensitive. Hope that helps. Mike M.

All my slot.it,sideways,NSR, and Thunderslot cars are chipped and are much faster than stock or even modified Carrera cars. Magnets or not. Dragging on the track is a problem of tire size, adjustment, or so much magnet that the chassis bends. I run without magnets and my magless cars will frequently outrun a stock Carrera car with magnets on my Scalextric track. Mike M.

@@roadamericanorthwest5789 Depends on the track. And mainly on the driver, as in any racing.

Carrera chips are much larger. I don’t have any experience with Carrera chips, but slot.it makes a Carrera specific chip as well as a universal chip that can be used for scalextric, Carrera, and oXigen. These look the same as the chips shown, but are internally different. The only difference in installation is the hole for the infrared led is on the right side of the chassis instead of the center as in scalextric. Otherwise you can mount them in the same manner. Hope that helps. Mike M.

Ive chipped 4 cars, meaning close to 160 dollars for chips......after buying the cars new. In general a really fast chipped car, say a Slot it? Is so fast it doesnt work that great on a tight home track. No doubt an NSR or Slot it or revoslot will smoke a carrera car on a big wide open track. Not so much on a tight track. The "professional" cars dont like banking, or bumps, or uneven tracks. They have almost no ground clearance.

The secret to using those cars is to reduce voltage to them. I do this through the software in the race management system (RCS64)

@@roadamericanorthwest5789 Ive played with toning the power down, on a slot it car, but its too much fun having that "zap" power on demand. I need to spend more hours driving the Slot-it cars to get the hang of it.....I'm more of a dirtbike racer than slot car racer, but Im working into more slot racing....my track has high banks, a jump of sorts, and tight corners also banked some...more of a rally track.

Just put in a softer motor, it makes a huge difference. Try the H&R 14K Jack Rabbit or the 12.5K Slot Car Corner motor. My track is 15' x 7" and I don't use anything faster than 18k. Added bonus: I have fewer broken cars! I am magnet free, so don't know what to say about magnets vs. slow motors. You can leave the power on regular.
