All due respect to your comment, Chip is not a 'nice, humble dude'. He is a prick. He is in the upper echelon of selfish egomaniacal assholes. BUT his obsession with being top dog, in combination with his love for auto racing, is why he produces great results. His ability to sell himself as humble in public forum, is a strength. But he's ruthless IRL.

Same for me. Listening to Jr's podcast reignited my interest in NASCAR. Started watching in the 90's with my Dad. Lost interest over the 2010's as my favorite drivers were retired or passed away. The up and comers then who are the majority of the field now didn't catch my interest. The ASA and IROC were gone. (Now coming back in some form) Now I find myself pulling for teams rather than individual drivers. Follow RCR, Hendrick, Jr Motorsports. Been going to our local track more in recent years too. It's like becoming reacquainted with old friends you haven't seen in years. May never find anyone like my old heros like Dick Trickle and Dale Earnhard, but I'm watching again.

This was the hardest thing I had to swallow since Tony Eury Jr was on the show... trying to figure everything what happened in DEIs final years... and when Chip said when she had lunch with Teresa and she didn't talk a lot about how DEI with Chip should've been I was like "Ohhhhh... that's gotta suck..."

We gotta be fair to Teresa.....she wasn't savy on racing or went on at the track. Her experience was the business of DE and merchandising. It's clear to see once Big E was gone the company fell without the proper direction as far as racing goes

@@fatpatlives1998 I'm fair with that it's just I feel bad for her in every way because she went through a lot and it was tough on her dealing with sponsorships, events, Dales autopsy and whatever else was at DEIs table leading up to the 2001 season and hopefully beyond but after Dale Srs death immediately fell apart... they lost their leader to get the team on trajectory and catch up with Hendrick, Roush, Penske to create something new... like a new buck stealing the show or a new kid on the block. But yeah I still feel bad for Teresa... because now DEI is a wedding venue and a new company called Earnhardt Technologies Group where they make dirt and asphalt race car parts... I bought a cap, shirt, and a koozie from them a company that Teresa made after Chip left... it's neat and I'm not picky about it...

@@seandamenacee4767I think it was Tony Eury jr who said he did. He said When she lost Dale her whole life was completely turned around. He could understand why she didn’t come to the track or shop much. They were a reminder about what happened and how it happened so why would she want that. It’s a fair point and I’m with him on that. The part she messed up was not recognizing it and that she was in no position to run DEI as a whole. She needed someone who could do it, but she was completely unwilling to give anyone that power, so there was actually an absence of a leader. By Dale’s own admission he was wasn’t a leader at that point, but letting him go was the biggest mistake she made. The son with the same name and huge popularity would have given her more options. Pushing him away was the worst thing she could have done and sealed her fate.

Like, yeah, it was bad for a guy like Chip to have gotten himself into a race team that was practically a shell of it's former self, while at the same time, any great people that were left in DEI, that were possibly still there when Dale Sr was there, was given an easy chance and opportunity to leave the sinking ship that was Teresa, and work for Chip.

RPM and Evernham were Dodge teams until they merged into one team to run the 2009 season until they switched to Fords the next year. Irony the Ganassi ran the #1 and #42 until Justin Marks decided to buy his team before last year. Ganassi still run his Indycar and sportscar teams with Cadillac in IMSA and WEC.

I mean the whole “merger” thing was sort of a misnomer. DEI basically just gave its sponsors and drivers to Ganassi’s team, DEI shut down after 2008. Petty Enterprises was likewise shut down by recent investor Boston Ventures after 2008, with the #43 sponsorship and branding being bought by Evernham investor George Gillett, with Evernham himself also left on the outside looking in as Richard Petty came in to be a new figurehead owner of “Richard Petty Motorsports”. A few years later Andrew Murstein and Medallion Financial took over for Gilett’s as majority owner, with Petty still as frontman. That remained the situation for a decade until 2021

This is a weird mystery as far as Teresa. Granted I'm on the outside looking in, but thinking about how Teresa has been portrayed, not to mention her relationship with the Eury family, some things just don't add up. Chip certainly is an intelligent business man.

Sad you guys didnt bring up losing Kyle Larson and that whole scenario.. That HAD TO BE a HUGE FACTOR into why Chip left NASCAR.. Not just the drama of losing a marquee talent.. but also the whole scenario had to have been very interesting.. no matter the amount of controversy around the topic. Sucks that such a conversation was scaped from the bullet point bulletin in fear of public persecution. Could have been discussed in a civil manor, without offending anyone.

Teresa was just..she wasn't into running a team and that's completely fine, not every job in the world is for everyone. She was still grieving as were Dale Jr, Kerry, Kelley and other Earnhardt family members. Chip is such a cool, interesting dude and perfect for running a team as he knows the job, how to assemble the right crew and produce winning drivers & cars.

Love Ganassi, he is a racer's racer. All you can ask for as a fan of motorsports. I agree with other viewers comments about Dale Jr. wearing a Kyle Larson shirt, that's fierce. However, if I recall correctly, McDonalds is the one who said Larson had to leave Ganassi. Funny. McDonalds left for 23XI Racing anyway. I would have found another sponsor.

This probably isn't the place to say it, but oh how I wish someone (glancing at Dale Jr and/or attorneys) could get it through the Widow Earnhardt's thick skull that the Earnhardt fans want to see Dale's cars and trophies, and all the cool stuff that used to be in the halls of DEI and the Deer Head shop. Pretty soon, all those die hard Earnhardt fans are gonna die out and the newer generations won't have the knowledge of or experience seeing the good stuff from when racing was racing and men were men, could work on their own cars.. Then again, she is nothing but greedy. Greed is driven by deep unmet emotional needs. WHAT, on God's green Earth, could she possibly think is more emotional than the loss of a parent compared to the loss of a spouse? She succeeded in keeping him from his children NOT borne from her while he was alive, and she continues it in his death. A POX upon her house.

I will agree with you. I think jr even though he thought at the time he wasn't ready to run a business like dei i thibk if he immatured a little more at that time and woke up he may have had a shot with getting dei. But as you stated Theresa is the reason dei is no longer a race team. The shop is still there but very little of Sr stuff is there and the place is always closed it seems like. Rcr has more history on dale in the old 3 shop than dei shop has there. This interview and other show Theresa is a money hungry person and is the sole reason dei is no longer a race team. It all came down to money. Last I heard, she is in Florida with her new boy toy reaping off him bit also still reaping off the earhardt Sr name plate. Pretty soon if the entire dei shop was torn down the new younger people wouldn't even know what dei was. I was down where dei is located and was highly disappointed it was closed yet rcr was opened.
