That's gotta be one of the longest drives for chinese I've ever seen anyone do. Makes me happy to be in LA. Nice Borla, I was looking to get one too. I appreciate the POV drive.

Not that there's a lack of Chinese here, but this car makes you go for the further restaurant :)

@@Byebyesmeow Not exactly in LA, but LA county stretches up to Palmdale, so the valley is still LA. Different traffic, more tolerable for me, and food everywhere.

Excellent video man! I want this exhaust for my GR86 forsure. I had a FRP exhaust on my focus ST. Made by borla. Absolute heaven. I can’t imagine getting another brand. Borla just makes such a great product

Hey Silent Bob where’s Jay ? 6th gear at 45 miles an hour ? I’m assuming your still breaking the car in ? Not looking forward to that ! Seriously though thanks for sharing, I’m loving any and all the new 2022 BRZ content even if it’s just driving up the road for take-out 🤣 🍲

Had to order one. I think it'll get me by until a tune is released and we can run headers and get that nice Subi rumble.

Really appreciate this. It sounds like it could easily be a stock exhaust if that makes any sense. It's got none of the usual after market exhaust flaws/annoyances. Also, with the active sound control off, this is a really quiet engine. I do understand why they include that. There's very little natural induction noise coming through to the cabin.

  • @jch4ng

Glad to hear. I really tried to like or even tolerate the active sound, but to my ears, it sounded exceedingly fake at higher RPMs and once I had the cat-back on, I disabled the active sound and haven't looked back. A plus is the BRZ is a more luxurious/quiet place than you'd think - might not be for everyone, but coming from a Miata on coilovers, it's bliss.

I'd like they put a better sound system than that fake engine noise or even put that larger JDM head unit. 20 mins for a take out!? It gets cold already...

Thanks for uploading the video! I've been thinking about buying a BRZ and I live in North Texas. This video is super useful for me to get an impression of how it would be to drive one around here. I am curious though, how bad is it to drive during rush hour?

Seems like under normal driving conditions the wind and tire noise is far louder than the exhaust. I am fine with that under cruising conditions but when I step on it I want to be heard. I have seen the cold start with little revs by you and 1 other youtuber as well and now this POV. I would love to hear what it sounds like with some exterior drive by video. 👍

  • @jch4ng

GoPro seems to amplify the road and wind noise - it's not as bad in person. When you step on it, the exhaust is definitely at the forefront. Wasn't able to hoon as much in this video because city traffic, however I can assure you it sings in the higher revs. Will try to get an exterior video out.

Haha it may be a trick on the eyes - I plug in my phone for AA to work. I think the Bluetooth triggers the AA app to start. Though, I'm sure there are a couple aftermarket wireless AA/Carplay devices worth looking into.

Was this Borla model140496? No fitment issues even though it's not listed as being 2022 compatible? ... Perrin is saying their current 2.5" catback isn't compatible, yet most 1st gen catbacks seem to fit. No drone during highway cruising?

Question … how unbearable is the wind/tire/road noise ?. I had to trade in my 2018 Wrx because after driving it everyday I couldn’t take it anymore . And the speakers were so bad I couldn’t drown out all the noise . I really want this car but I just wish Subaru just cared a little more about sound deadening. It ruins the experience for me after awhile .

The type of roads you drive on is key here... on asphalt, it's bliss. Some stretches of concrete may have a bit of resonance. Ultimately for me, coming from a Miata on coilovers, it might as well be a luxury cruiser. My good friend has a 2020 STI with a Borla cat-back, and I'd call that much more rough and rowdy of an experience. Speakers are still a little lackluster. Really, the car is very, very livable and I'd bet it'd be more comfortable than a 2018 WRX.
