The dodgy ones on the street. A nice place would use tissues to clean the ear wax and sanitize the equipment with rubbing alcohol?

I love how the dude wipes the other dudes earwax on his hand and just keeps going!

The reaction of the lady at 4:42 was mine too after he puts the tool into his mouth 😑

Don't mean to be critical, but the sanitation issues worry me more than the actual process itself. The man doing the cleaning looks to be very careful, but he's using the tools and then placing them directly back into a nylon pack without them being cleaned at all - which means that pack is likely absolutely filled with the bacteria and ear wax of all of the previous customers he's served since buying that pack. I have issues with regular earwax buildup, so the idea of getting them delicately cleaned seems incredibly appealing, but having unclean instruments used for the process is comparable to a dentist using the same uncleaned tools for every one of his patients. I've seen a number of videos of Europeans/Westerners getting their ears cleaned in the street in India and China and other eastern countries in a manner just like this, and I'd be incredibly interested to learn why the fear of infection/cross-contamination/damage doesn't worry them enough to avoid a street cleaning.

Actually some of them have got used to cleaning their tools with hydrogen peroxide or alcohol. If you live in Chengdu, you will find that every ear wax remover has his own habit. So whether you can have this sort of service with clean tools without bacteria all depends on who gives the service to you.

恩桐 何 恩桐 何 That's great to hear, and I don't want to stereotype all services like these as being the same. My comment was more based on the street videos I've seen so far, like this one, where a cleaning tool goes from a man's ear directly into the pack where the other tools are kept; or where the ear wax is wiped directly onto the cleaner's hand without there being an indication that the hands are ultimately cleaned between customers. Kudos to the participants for being adventurous; I'm just surprised that sort of thing doesn't scare them away from using those services handled in such a manner.

I agree with you! It's the hygiene standards and unclean practices that would put me off. He put his tools back in his tool pouch without even disinfecting it. I guess a ear cleaner with low or no standards of personal hygiene and no knowledge of cross infections will think it is ok to offer the same low standards of cleanliness and hygiene to his or her customers.

Judging from all that stuff the cleaner was picking out, you would have thought the customer had bird's nests in both ears.

I found it really unconfortable doing it while sitting it feels more comfortable while laying down because as someone who does my own ear almost everyday i found the vibration really really feels good and make my neck goes limp by pleasure.

I'm fine with getting my ears cleaned either at home or at an ear spa/clinic. Having your ears cleaned on the street is too much of a gamble as you can see in this video, there are people walking around, kids playing and rowdy teenagers playing cards just behind the ear cleaning guy. Any sudden bump into the guy while he has a metal tool in your ear and your day will turn bad in an instant. Not to mention it doesn't look too sanitary. The ear cleaner in thos video had an ear pick in his mouth at one point.

Dontvlije the street cleaning ones cuz they don't show you the gunk!

The ear cleaning I once had (not in the street like this) cleaned the tools in front of me. A friend of mine said that sometimes they open a new "pack" in front of you. So if you wanna try this go to the ones that are actual stores. May cost more but decreases the risk of infection.
