That truck had sufficient horsepower and gearing. What was lacking is traction. If it would have had lockers, locking all four drive wheels, it would have easily climbed the hill. Thanks for the video. Best Regards - Mike

I don't know if as it says the gross weight was 55 ton and the tractor was 290hp I would not be attempting those inclines. You are correct in diff locks may have helped.

@@martinsv9183 Well it did cause it got up just, my statement was "I would not be attempting those hills with 290hp" which according to the manufactures is actually 278hp. There is a huge difference in getting to the top "just" and getting to the top "easy"! Trucks are meant to last more than a few months, treating them that way is not the right way. I was running Volvo F88's with 290hp running at 32 ton gross in the 1980's. It was the wrong tractor, the wrong trailer, badly loaded, over weight, I don't know if you noticed but he was struggling with his steering as there was no weight on the front axle.

@@johnroberts8513 Yes but this is a completely different world. They dont have first world problems mainly. 290hp seems to be the least of his problems.. It was enough to get up the hill. That's a win here. As you stated yourself.. he cant even steer properly. All these trucks are heavily overloaded.

First and foremost, the issue here is poor engineer. If you watch the vids on this slope you will definitely surmise that the next challenge is driver skill..

They did well to get that up that hill . Usually videos like this end up with the whole lot crashing
