Chinese in Jamaica DISTROYING VALUABLE HERITAGE?

Mammee Bay, once a village created by Jamaica's indigenous Taíno people around 650 AD, has seen changes. It was used for farming sugar cane, indigo, pimento trees, coconuts, and raising cattle. In 1762, the Hemmings family owned Mammee Bay, running it as a sugar plantation. The remains of sugar works, like a water wheel and walls, still exist. Despite a pirate attack in 1795, the residents, including slaves and overseers, defended it. A fort was later built with 14 guns to protect against more pirate threats, and it still stands today. #jamaicahistroy #chinesefood #chinahabour #heritage #historical #jis #jamaicainformationservice

Lol! Perhaps writing to them (leader and his administration) that respecting the history of our country, including this property is much more appreciated than the new housing destruction and should consider relocating the development on a property of less historical enrichment and value. @@Creolebabe92Portia did not give the land away. That was the outcome of a new agreement signed with the Chinese by this Administration. Portia’s agreement was for tolls to fund construction of the North-South Highway. This administration sought additional funding for the extension of the Highway 2000 Program because they had diverted the funds air marked. The airmarked funds was used for the upgrade of the Corporate Area Roadways. The agreement was that the St Thomas leg of the Highway 2000 was not to be tolled. same Jamaican people who took it for granted. running around killing women and children, harbouring criminals, scamming people out of their hard earned money, amongst everything else. Then you have the Spaniards, who enslaved all of Jamaica and put not a thing back in it. I could say the same about the English, because they built zero roads and schools, and took their currency. The Chinese now, they're building roads for some of the land. I'll happily give them 10% of it for roads and infrastructure, because none of the colonizers did a thing except kill men and rape our women.

And apparently there is an agreement that the Chinese owns the highways 30 years to aid with this payments. Do that maths if 500k small cars per day travels oneway for 30 years - thats more than 30 trillions - JMD or USD $205,000,000. The road dis not cost not even half that price.

More work is required there because the little that has been done, random coloured lighting and the few flowers or plants has not necessarily enhanced the dilapidated wheel and surrounding stone structure by much. You could easily drive pass and not notice much of it especially in the daytime. Respectively, Jamaicans cannot may any request to Xi Jinping or his administration to deregard any historical of China because they respect their history. Who is allowing this to happen in Jamaica? Who lack of respect for one's history and rich culture is causing the Chinese to do the same?
