The garden of Qianlong is such an example
The year 1902 mentioning about the earliest part of the collection, made me recall of the 1900 Boxer Rebellion looting in Beijing by western powers. I am open minded but is there a connection? What is the proof that this? We are well blessed by these pieces but were they done on good faith? I hope so.
