Chinese atv start button and kill switch wiring.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We wire up the starter solenoid, start button and kill switch. Now it starts by pushing the button and shuts off with the kill switch. If you are not getting contact through your switch it may be corroded, you can take them apart and clean the contact points with some sandpaper.

    Glad to hear that Frank! No i have not but it can be incorporated easily. The key switch can be wired in between the solenoid and start button. Just came across this, and I have a question.... Why would you not wire the starter relay to pop on hot, instead of gnd? Meaning, take the wire from the start button, one end into the ignition switch and hot when keyed on, the other to the starter relay.... grounding out the yellow/red wire from the relay, and therefore making it actually work with the ignition switch when keyed on? just curious as to why you're bypassing the actual ignition switch, when this then makes it to where anyone could start it without a key.... thanks, nice video tho! I'm sure it has helped a tremendous amount of people! keep up the good work!

    This atv was acquired with no wiring harness and no ignition switch. The purpose of this video was to be able to rewire a atv in the simplest way possible. If you have a key switch it can most certainly be added into the circuit to include that. This is just basic wiring only that is necessary for it to run. There is also a prior video on the cdi wiring that goes with this video. Thanks for watching!

    The wire that got phased out on the kill switch was it to the horn or the wireless button system? Rewiring my sons old 110 and his original switch was just like this one and had a kill switch with 3 wires. So even in off position it had some purpose. The new one has only 2 wires and is an all open circuit in the off position. I'm just curious what that extra wire is for without having to cut open the harness and trace. I'll probably just leave it out anyway but I'd like to atleast know.

    I would think the start button is stuck on, can be unplugged to test this. Or possibly the starter solenoid is stuck. If it has been messed with prior it could be some other things. You will just have to test and eliminate possible things to find the problem.

  • @FireAndGasoline

    @FireAndGasoline

    5 жыл бұрын

    Possibly a bad kill switch. They use a steel spring inside that rusts if moisture gets in then it quits working. Sometimes you can take them apart and clean it and it will be ok. The black/white wire from the cdi is the kill switch wire. You can test with a multimeter to see if that wire is being grounded. If so that is the reason for no spark. If its not grounded you will need to test a few other things. Let me know what you come up with.

    One wire will go to batt+ the other will go to the start button and from the start button to ground. In this video i take the yellow/green and put onto the battery+ side of the solenoid. You can test before you make connection, on yours it will be the red/green. You can touch that red/green on the batt+ side of the solenoid and touch the red/yellow to ground and see if the solenoid clicks. If it does that way is correct if not reverse them. The side that went to ground will connect to the start button.

    Its possible the button itself has corroded or rusted, have come across that quite a few times. You can test it with a multimeter for continuity. Other than that i would check saftey switches or that ignition switch it supplying power to the start button. • @FireAndGasoline

    @FireAndGasoline

    Yo can not run them to the battery the stator put out AC voltage and the battery/electrical system are DC voltage. You need to run the yellow and white wire to the rectifier and the green from the rectifier goes to ground and red to battery +. You dont need a charging system if you are not running lights. I have not hooked it up on this one and has been starting right up almost every day for 2 months now. It only uses battery voltage to start and the cdi runs off the stator. Hope that helps, thanks for watching and the sub!

  • @FireAndGasoline

    @FireAndGasoline

    Mtb Riding i dont even have the voltage regulator for mine.. like i said the white and yellow wires run to that. The red from the regulator runs to the battery for charging. You can test if it is charging by hooking a multimeter from that red wire to the battery on dc voltage. Should be 12+ at atleats part throttle. Nothing uses the battery other than starting or lights so the battery shouldn't go dead that fast even with no charging system. How old is your battery.. could it possibly be bad?
