ALMOND TEA RECIPE:
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 ⅓ cups Chinese sweet almonds (Southern almonds)
- 1/3 cup washed glutinous (sticky) rice
- 3C water
- ⅓ cup sugar rock sugar
- Pinch of Salt
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
RECIPE:
1) Soak Almonds and washed sticky rice overnight in the fridge - the longer it soaks, the richer the milk will be.
2) The next day, take it out of the fridge and discard the water.
3) If using skinned almonds proceed to step 4. Otherwise, skin the almonds by placing them in boiling water for a minute. Then drain, rinse with cold water, and use your fingers to squeeze off the skins.
4) In a blender, add drained rice, almonds, sesame seeds, 3 Cups of water and blend until finely ground.
5) Line a colander in a pot with cheesecloth and pour mixture through. Lift up cheesecloth and squeeze remaining liquid out into pot.
6) Add pot to stove on low/medium heat
7) Add sugar, and vanilla extract mix, and a pinch of salt - mix everything together until sugar is dissolved
8) Cook until simmering, around 8-10 minutes - Serve immediately. Makes 6 Servings.

I've been drinking almond tea at my local asian bakery for years, it is amazing! A few months back I found an almond tea mix at an oriental supermarket. Thanks for the video, now I can make a homemade batch!

I love how the recipes made on this channel are all so multicultural and detailed :") I am chinese and I have had this drink many times, I never knew precisely as to how it was made though! Thank you :)
Sticky Rice is one of the most amazing this you can have in Vietnam.. we make some kind of cake/dessert food its like green sticky rice.. soaked in some kind of leaves and then mung beans and then meat or so! its really good and its also wrapped in banana leaves and boiled in water for a couple of hours(we make this for Chinese new years)
Your Chinese skills are great! 乾杯!
white on white looks heavenly.

I love that you guys always use music from the country that a certain drink originates from :)
好听别致的配乐,香甜暖心的杏仁茶,熟悉的筷子竹子和茶点...都令我突然地想家。希望可以在这里继续看到更多中国味道!

It's like chinese almond milk how cool keep it up tastemade !!
ooo, this looks really delicious
you have good choice of music. my favorite is the chai tea.
Mmm that looks so yummy
~squeals~ Love this! Thank you! Btw, for the people asking, the cookies were almond cookies, the long stick things were sesame sticks (basically sugar and sesame) and peanut sticks.
this looks so tasty!
i have a taste made foreign song playlist on my ipod ahah..love it, keep em coming!
These videos are so beautiful
Oh, YUM!!!
yum
me too! :)
They're peanuts or sesame seeds candy bars . The peanut one is huā shēng táng in Chinese . You can either eat along side of the tea or dip in the tea but the best way to enjoy both tea and snack is eat snack first (because it's so much sweet ) and then drink the tea . You'll see heaven even though you're still alive .
thank you so much!
YES FINALLY a thing I can make where I have all the ingredients 8D
Looks amazing. Very simmilar to Indian recipe of Almond Milk!
Amazing quality video and recipe. #legit all around.
Really like your videos.
that is quite helpful, thank you so much ;)
i like the filmography(?) of the whole video, its just so classy.
its great cold as well
Wow. I am going to Chinatown this weekend to get the ingredients for this!
can't wat for next video, BANDREK!!!
This looks delicious. I might try it :)
I completely agree, the choice of music, decor, background. It just transports me everytime. Such beautiful filmography & music. So talented! Whats the name os this song?
Who is it that picks all the songs for these videos? Great stuff. I love the music!
that's quite helpfull, thanks ;)
You can probably substitute a mixture of rice milk and almond milk (like Silk brand). Or you could even try using horchata, which you can purchase as a concentrate or even ready made in some grocery stores. Look in the health foods and international isles.
This looks delicious! It looks kindof similar to Horchata, but I would always love an actual recipe for that too!
Nicely done and beautiful. Just want to point out one thing. Although "干杯“ (kanpai) literally means to "empty/dry your cup", I dont think any Chinese will say that while drinking almond tea. Its only used for a toast of alcoholic drinks.
The cookie with an almond is basically Chinese almond "shortbread" and is slightly sweet with a kiss of almond. The white and black rectangular bonbons are sesame seed "brittle" made from sesame seeds and rock sugar, but be warned, for most are quite hard to bite into! The pink and white clusters are peanuts and sugar. I recommend having almond milk with cashew biscuits.
I always liked this, but never knew how to make it at home, thanks! Could you guys do a red bean soup? It's definitely a dessert I want to learn how to make at home
oh my god can't wait for next week! can't believe that they actually try make bandrek^^ (indonesia tradisional drink)
thanks!
@maxx Those are variety of sesame seed rock candies black n white.the pink has been dyed. I'm impressed with you gus- taste masters. .u can cime up with Asian drinks
I'm diverting to cuisine of different countries, but you can probably make a sweet porridge with those--add some sticky rice, condensed milk, tapioca, mung beans, boil, and top it with some coconut milk.
This is basically almond milk but more fancier

Princess Marshella The so-called Chinese almonds are actually apricot kernels which have a very different taste with almonds. And they are also slightly toxic.
my grandma made this so many times when i was younger, and i remember that i'd always ask for rock suger xD
I agree! BUTTERBEER!
Is that some Better Than Bouillon I spotted in the back of the fridge there? I love that stuff too.
Your videos are so beautiful and easy to follow. Love the music choice too. Please make more :) Come to Indonesia and try our cuisine :D
I don't have any Chinese stores in my area. Darn. This looks GOOD!!! I wonder if I could tweak it with American ingredients.
Where can you get Chinese sweet almonds from in the UK? Looked all over main internet sites and NOTHING! Will try it with ordinary almonds. Love these drink recipes.
If you replace almond and rice with soybeans ,It'll be soy milk /tonyu . The best part of this recipe is you can do it with almost every beans -like red beans, black beans ,mung beans .Even corns (fresh sweet corns ) can use this recipe to make Corn milk.
this is a really tiny detail but I'm so glad you picked this song to go with the video... everytime a video's topic is about something Chinese, people invariably put kung fu music in and I'm so sick of it...
Oh and I remember eating cube after cube of rock candy when I was little haha...
I wonder if they will make this drink called Teh Tarik. Its really nice. But you need skills to create this drink as you need to "pull" or, Tarik the drink in order to cool it down. Its basically tea mixed with condensed milk but trust me, it tastes really good! Oh and if you want it to be cold, go ahead. Add a couple of ice cubes. Maybe thumbs this up so they will see this? Thanks :) Btw awesome videos guys good job! Greetings from Singapore.
杏仁奶!记忆中的香味~QAQ我想回家QAQ
omg! i use that sugar to make simple syrup.
yes the almonds we usually eat(brown one) taste very different from the chinese almonds
Oh maybe you can try ginkgo barley? It's amazing!
Yes! Chopsticks rule! :D
What are the little cookies/snacks/biscotti that is shown in the picture? Of the three shown, which is the best-in your opinion-to dip into the tea or to just be eaten along side of the tea? Thank you!
Sounds and looks so fantastic!!! :) love nuts (and every one is gonna say "thats what she said") to continue i love nuts and almonds
thank you so much, honey. I'll try it on ;)
