This is what I got from Wikipedia, in case someone is interested. The oldest parts of the Grand Canal dates back to 5th Century BC. It was totally connected as one canal system during the Sui Dynasty (581-618 AD). Total length is 1,776 km , from Beijing to Hangzhou and connecting 6 rivers, including the Yangtze and Yellow rivers.
Wow! Amazing China!
Hope the Grand Canal and the surrounding ancient buildings will be fully preserved, and this is time which we have to demolish the high rise buildings along this ancient, traditional canal, we can't destroy the ancient features by building high skyscrapers, this will ruin the beautiful scenery
That is simply beautiful.
