China’s International Mediation Efforts: the Where, Why, and How

NEW YORK, April 4, 2023 - A panel of experts discusses regional perspectives on Beijing's involvement in international mediation, the geopolitical factors that influence China's mediation efforts, and the impact of this superpower's regional engagement. I love listening to discussions on geopolitics, but the blatant bias is getting tiring. I notice that they did not get a single Chinese speaker to discuss China. What a ridiculous way to hold a talk. As for the speakers saying that they're glad that China is "finally" carrying its weight - I can only hold back so much disgust. Why would the PRC want to be involved in a quagmire that the US created? We overthrew the government in Iran, we funded wars between Iraq and Iran, we invaded Iraq, and our influence over KSA is what drives a wedge between them and Iran, just as much if not more than any religious issue. As for "western"/"universal" values - the constant arrogance and talking down about other governments, including their own ally KSA, is part of the reason so many are looking to side with BRICS. They were a sentence or two from calling them savages for not sharing the same values. How can a group of men be so tactless and have any say in diplomacy whatsoever? Overall, it's rather embarrassing.

After the death of FDR, the oligarchs who had always dominated behind the scenes in the USA took over again. And in regards to waiting for visas, people do that for many countries (including China). For all you English speaking folks, you should know that “All Nations” used by Beijing is to make sure that it is a universal principle that applies to every nation on this earth including Russia and USA. So, how many years USA invaded and occupied Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan? Perhaps 20 years let us say. Then, let us set a time frame for Russia to withdraw in 10 years assuming Ukraine/NATO abides by all the terms and assuming USA would withdraw from Iraq and Syria immediately to act as a role model. The entire world should stand with China to insist that Russia and USA follow the universal principle.

A US attack drone killed Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani on 3 January 2020 near the Baghdad International Airport in Iraq while he was en route to meet Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi. Abdul-Mahdi had intended to discuss a diplomatic reconciliation between Iran and Saudi Arabia with Soleimani on the morning of his death. Abdul-Mahdi said that President Trump personally expressed gratitude to him for his efforts, giving the impression that the Iranian general was not in danger and could safely travel to Baghdad. The US has to keep creating and maintaining enemies for its allies to defend against. The world has to be kept on a permanent war footing to justify its military spending, military alliances, and Military-Industrial-Congressional Complex (MICC). If the world is peaceful, its allies will find it hard to justify keeping US troops on their territory and paying the US to maintain them. There will be no one to sell weapons to.

How has the US conducted itself since becoming the wealthiest country with the most powerful military? They have started 201 wars since WWII, overthrown 36 foreign leaders, killed or attempted to kill 50, dropped bombs in 30 countries, interfered in 86 foreign elections, and established a staggering 800 overseas military bases. They are the world's largest arms exporter, far surpassing the combined exports of the next nine countries. In the name of democracy, the US has caused the deaths of tens of millions of people in their conflicts in Korea, Vietnam, Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria. The CIA was also involved in covert operations that led to mass killings of communists in over 22 countries, and more than 500,000 Indonesian civilians disappeared in 1965-1966. The US version of democracy has resulted in a laundry list of chronic domestic problems. The country's massive national debt of over $31 trillion, economic inequality, inflation, costly healthcare, expensive education system, student loan debt totaling $1.7 trillion with an average balance of $38,000, racial inequality, mass incarceration, deteriorating infrastructure, housing affordability, homelessness, the opioid epidemic, and gun violence are all direct consequences of misguided government policies. No other developed country has such severe and widespread issues. Both of the country's political parties are hostile to each other and deeply divided, yet they point fingers at other countries as the source of their problems. The US promotes its version of democracy to other countries, despite being mired in problems and controversies at home. The Chinese military has not been involved in any war or used its weapons to kill a single person outside its territory in the last forty-four years. Despite having a per capita GDP one-sixth that of the US, China is enthusiastically expending an enormous amount of its resources to assist in the development of other countries.

If China wants to tie itself to more and more natural resources and fossil fuels from countries like Iran, Saudi and Brazil, then so be it. This will mean that it slows itself down in the global climate and new sustainable energies race.

Yes China is dependent on Oil from the Middle East & the U.S. was the sole protector of those sea lanes- but not anymore- China now has a military base in Djibouti just in the Horn of Africa & that’s not just for optics. And China has or will be completing the CPEC road from Xinjiang to Gwadhar Port thru Pakistan & getting its Oil faster by Road instead of thru the South China Sea. The U.S.should therefore acknowledge the strategic importance of India when it does get into a conflict with China over Taiwan. If the U.S. has the sense to bring Indias Armed Force to the level of China urgently in the next few years- it can have an ally that is presently challenging India in the northern Tibetan Himalayas where about 100,000 Indian and Chinese Forces are facing one another eyeball to eyeball. Good US & Indian Diplomats can broker a deal where a suitably Armed India can serve as a Second Front in the Himalayas & the Indian Navy in the (South) Indian Ocean for oil shipping thru the seas to China. Without Indias help - about Chinas population- the US will suffer the same fate- come off second best as it has in the post WW2 wars in Korea/Vietnam/ Cambodia/ Iraq/Afghanistan/ where the Chines intervened to the U.S. disadvantage. The U.S. does NOT stand a chance against China in the South China Seas- without Indias support Sydney Desouza

Brother pass me what you're smoking it must be fun. Listen to yourself for a second. You want US Anggglo Saxxxon elites to help India technological advance to the level of China. Funny man your goose-stepping nazee loving BJP and Bollywood styled News Media(all claims no proof) have twisted your mind. You have to hand it to the US, it has been able to colonise the Indian mind beyond Gandhi's worst nightmare. Monopoly on international media, us funded NGOs and total control over Indian internet networks, apps. India Vs China divide and rule. That's how British colonised India. This is amazing to watch.
