Let's go back a bit, shall we? The 1950s, the decades just after both India and Nepal gained independence. Nepal was finding its feet and establishing democracy. Who was there to help? India! they were among the first to establish diplomatic ties and provide aid and assistance. The idea of anything but goodwill was far from reality.
