1973 my oldest brother took me to my first big concert. Grateful Dead at Winterland. I had been to smaller music events with the Sons of Champlin and other bay area bands, but that night at Winterland with the Dead the world opened up to me. Like Alice thru the looking glass. It changed the way I saw the world. It changed how I heard music. It changed my life for the better forever. I've been lucky. I was at the filming for the movie, Keith and Donnas final show and Brents first show. I saw the Grateful Dead as an opening act for the Who in 76. This is fantastic.

yep but ya gotta shake it up or they get bored. China /Rider got bigger less blues sounding not better just different. And the timing of the drums when they would throw those big sounds of thunder.People would scream for that I wish I was headlight. Boom. Sometimes Jerry would smash it and some times not so much. And sometimes they wouldn't give Bobby the same effort. What happened no THE SUNS GONNA SHINE IN MY BACK DOOR. just different.

I was at this show, or one of the November '73 Winterland shows. I don't remember it very well. We blew it by dropping the night before, hitchhiking down from Olympia. 18 and foolish. I was pretty dragged out at the show. This sounds pretty tight, I don't remember as such, but it was probably me.

Alot of people don't know this but I was the 'secret Jerry' from 71-74, I was hiding behind the amps and was actually playing the leads on 90% of everything that you thought was Jerry, and by 75 I told Jerry that he needed to step up and move into the lead spot FOR REAL...and he eventually got it, but the years where the GD were really making their 'ART' 71-74, it was me, Tiny Tim, on the guitar....

.Try this on KZread Folks: CRYPTOBEAST #19 You're WELCOME! BY A DEADHEAD: " It seems as though Chalmers Wood II is the real Forrest Gump. I cried when I read the story of young Chip saving that diplomatic meeting. I think we’re certainly looking at a real American Hero even before he knew he was. It’s inspiring to read a story with that old patriotic American “feeling”, something generations upon generations since then have no idea about which included an innocence of inclusion, family and a healthy sense of pride about the nation. It was a very refreshing and inspirational moment. I have a renewed sense of vigor for the concept that the Grateful Dead espoused. Even though only a shell of the original concept remained even before it was started somehow I think part of that light had shown through because some of us deadheads just won’t give up on this journey."

I am happy whenever I hear the GD, they were my salvation during the late sixties.. when I was still 19, in '69 I was hobnobbing with the band and Bobby took a liking to me so I got the royal treatment. i danced onstage, stayed in the hotel room. stayed with bob who shared a room with Phil for the entire weekend at the Capitol Theatre, Porchester. I had to do something to be true to my nature so I left college and went off to California. I never saw the Dead live again. I absolutely feel I missed them but, I was strung out on certain substances and needed to change my scenery 100%

Gary Williams i am female, Gary. maybe you should reread my comment. i slept with Bobby. wore a kickass red sweater and jeans, in front of 1,000 people dancing on stage...that's when Bobby was closest to the right side of the stage and Jerry was on left side. they hardly knew their own songs but still the message they played was loud and clear. oh, the '60's were quite an era. i'm glad i can remember that time of my life. nothing has ever equaled my experiences back then!
