Nice to watch a full size yarder at work with a 90' tube and seven guy lines. Interesting to see a more traditional landing, with a knot bumper and chasers instead of a mechanical trimmer/sorter. I got to log in the early 60's with may dad in the Klamath River country. We were all cat logging shows, with only one man on the landing unhooking chokers, bumping knots and hooking up trailers. The loading was done with cable machines and later a 966 Cat, which was a lot faster to move between landings.

This is one of the best videos I've seen showing many aspects of cable logging. Not only what is happening, but how a show is layed out, the steepness of the terrain, the hustle in and out to set a turn. Not to mention a forest in many different stages of maturation from being logged, to young trees, to mature standing timber. You should consider doing a voice over version explaining what is going on. The quality of the drone footage and video is excellent. Nicely done.

Just a tower and a shovel, no processor, and they people on the landing? Chaser, second loader and who is the third?? the only thing missing is 5000' of 2 inch skyline and a haulback dragging the carriage back across a canyon. I would like to see what they found for guyline stumps.

Back in the late 70's through the 80's I was either setting chokers, chasing or blocking cedar up Port Angeles way on the peninsula. I was there in the middle of the spotted owl fiasco. I felled my share of old growth and I gotta admit my conscious was troubled from time to time. Even so those Green Peacers didn't know shit from shinola... It's good to see old school logging techniques being practiced in what has obviously become a much more environmentally conscious mode of operation. Days of cutting entire mountain ranges clear of every tree are over. I'm glad. The forests will remain healthy and our children and children's children can continue to harvest the renewable resources we have left for them. This operation looks to me to be running like a well oiled machine. Turn, turn, turn.. Keep on keepin on guys. Peace
