This song always makes me emotional. I've seen Jesus Christ Super Star on stage but Dan's singing and emoting is off the charts. Just touches my heart, brings tears to my eyes. The concept of the breakdown when we lose the rhythmic beat, very interesting. And of course Dan is truly an amazing singer, and the emotion he exudes is heartbreaking as well as inspirational.

I first saw this show in 1975, as a 12 or 13 year old, with Trevor White in the titular role, and have since seen other versions including those of Ian Gillian and Ted Neely. However for mine, Dan Vasc is by far the best of the best when it comes to the most emotional portrayal of this song... I'd love to see him perform the entire show, it would be beyond EPIC 😁 I love Dan's voice, it's power and subtly are just so impressive. I've heard him speak about his vocal routine and range, he is very particular about how he uses and rests his voice, but as far as what his exact range is, he isn't entirely sure just as long as he can hit the note cleanly or the way he envisioned, he is happy with the results. Although he can be a bit of a perfectionist, he also knows that perfection can be the enemy of completion. To me, everything Daniel does is perfection. He has taught me so much about many genres I would never have ordinarily listened to, and find myself listening to, and preferring, his version over the original, even when it comes to the greatest names in heavy rock and metal. Also because of Dan, I am coming to know the beautiful, and cheeky, Andre Matos,,,gone too soon, but such a catalogue and legacy left behind for those who wish to explore...😔 Daniel will be in my playlists for a very very long time to come. I wish him every success, and everything he wants for himself. 🥰 🙃🐨🇦🇺

I saw the movie with Ted Neely in the part of Jesus the year the movie was released. Although I was raised as a Christian and knew the story of Jesus, but watching the movie on a massive movie screen and hearing the music shook me to my core. Looking back on how much it affected me, I was probably too immature to have seen it at that time in my life. If you haven’t seen the movie, please do so. Just remember that the movie was released in 1973. I have to say, Dan singing this song has shook me again!!! Just stunning! ❤ ❤ ❤ Thanks for the reaction. 🤟

Dan Vasc reminds me of a Chihuahua for one reason. Neither knows there are any limits to their abilities. They don’t say “can’t”, they only understand “do.”

Loved your reaction. You explained break down of the music structure that made the song feel like it was falling apart. Interesting.. I think Dan would. Like your reaction too, because he spends a lot of time and attention on all the music and everything else in the making of the music. . He is a part of the whole piece pf the musical composition.

I was a child when the musical came out and, of course, not much older when the movie was done. I saw neither until a few years ago. Neither the movie nor the John Legend version moved/touched me in any way. Dan made me feel when I watched this a few months ago! Thanks for your insights! I was in band during junior and senior high and you mention things that I had forgotten I knew.

no matter how many times i have watched this emotional performance it never fails to bring me to tears. thank you such an insightful and informative reaction. you have given me such insight on how dan can perform such roller-coaster antics with his voice. which range is best? the warm rich high-bari, like in his 80's covers. love the screams and high notes; but the high-bari is his sweet spot. i'm here for it all.

Because of your professional experience I would love to hear you react to Dan Vasc singing Nessun Dorma.

This is my favorite song, and I have heard versions from the Iron Chef Chairman to Kermit the Frog. I have never heard a version that combines the passion play with technical artistry as much as this one does. Often, you get one or the other.

Dan Vasc is an off-beat singer, and as you pointed out, I was nodding. He is extremely powerful in vocals. He will not speak at all 24 hours before a show. This is what sets him apart from any other singer. You should listen to Erik Gronwall. His covers are great, and his voice is off the freaking charts.

Thank you for your explanations about the music. It makes the feelings a bit more bearable. Dan was great,. My body feels like I have been in a train wreck. .his portrayal of emotions was so strong. If it hadn’t been Dan, and your explanations, I think I would have turned it off. You allowed me to stay and see a great performance. . Thank you.

Oh my gosh I agree with you a million percent about the glissandos! I can't stand it when a singer overuses scooping, it makes me think they're not capable of hitting the notes cleanly. In contrast, Dan's glissandos strike me as appropriately dramatic. Great observation.

Off topic comment for you. Just noticed you have a gaming channel. Dan is an avid gamer and has a separate channel. He hasn't done much with it for months, but in the last 2 weeks, he's posted something. Dan has also been in the Geeks and Gamers, Friday Night Tights, and Nerdrotic panels more often. He is closing in on 1 M subs. He challenged Gary (Nerdrotic) to get to 1M subs before him. Dan didn't beat him so he has a penalty. BTW he is only 11,000 shy of 1M as of today. Dan said he really enjoyed the challenge, although he pretends it to be an "humiliation". As soon as Gary finishes writing a song about man buns being gay, Dan has to sing it as the penalty for losing. Those guys constantly joke about how everyone is "ghey", even if they know Dan isn't. He has long hair he tries to keep off his neck in the tropical climate of Brazil.
