I think what could work is the Lunchlady AND the main character were actually ANOTHER alien race and their plan was to eat these aliens and use their remains to turn all the kids into First aliens and as the Bestfriend turns into the First type of alien, in pain, really cluching his stomach, hammy acting and all, his friend says "LUNCHTIME!" as he turns into his true form and a bunch of similar looking Aliens show up at the cafeteria for "lunch". The End.

So yes, hello. Got a few people getting on my case about my use of the word "cannibalism." - I understand this is something that happens within a species - for me the aliens were so humanoid that I lumped them in together and didn't think it was that strange of a leap to use the term. I didn't really think of the aliens as another species for some reason since they are so close to humans, especially in this story. For me it was a horrifying concept because one sapient being was consuming another, so that's how I got to that. Sorry if that is annoying for you. :P

Edit: The book version played out differently than this episode, you might like that layout better and I think R.L Stine understood the points you made better in the original, while the screenwriters made an original story for the story. As someone who was allowed to read more mature horror novels as a teen by my school, this story still came across as rather disturbing compared to the usually kiddy affair R.L Stine put out... Maybe he was a bit more pissed when he wrote this one for some reason, and didn't mind disturbing children that day?

I'm glad someone else found the Uncle Howee episode scary (although some of the scares are tempered by the fact that Uncle Howee is played by Tom "SpongeBob SquarePants" Kenny), but where's Headshot (the one that's basically "The Picture of Dorian Gray" filtered through the world teen modeling), the one that ended with a reclusive comic book artist drawing his obsessive fan and putting him through a paper shredder, the one where a family gets attacked by mushrooms à la The Last of Us, or the one where Cupid helps a girl land her crush, only for him to go insane from love?

  • @SpongeyTheEditor

Just like Pumpkinhead, this is based one of the Nightmare Hour shot stories. The book version is very short and is basically just a setup and punchline: Kid has been named president of an alien club and he asks what they do at these meetings,m the others eat the candy and transforms, eat the kid then it cuts to later as there's a new president and he asks what they do around here. Yeah, the episode had to take some liberties, I think they did an okay job expanding on it for the most part. I find this to be a more mid tier episode, got a bit too goofy and illogical for my liking. Tone wise, even the gross stuff was framed in a sort of goofy way, with the kids screams at the end and the alien designs and costumes. I imagine the goofy route was taken because they feared that with these designs, no one would take it seriously. I like the ending as it is for being very memorable and gross but I agree that the bullies needed a payoff because otherwise they are kind of pointless. Both this and the last one, Game Over, as scene as more middling episodes so hopefully the next one covered is more beloved. My suggestion is The Dead Body, mostly because I'd be cool if you read the short story it's based on from Nightmare Hour and compare it, discuss how they tried to stretch these stories out and in this case, basically reworked it from the ground up./

I did watch a few haunting hour episodes, and the ones that really stuck out to me in my memory are the ones about the doll, Lilly D. If there's any chance you could take a look at those one day that would be pretty neat! Either way I really enjoy your content, and I'm glad I happened upon your videos!

If I remember right, the aliens were almost like something out of The Thing, with their bodies twisting into weird, distinct shapes. One thing that's always bugged me about Stine's work is how he sometimes goes overboard with the characters. In this one, it's not enough that a boy encounters aliens, he has to be obsessed with aliens, want to join an alien club, etc. It just makes too much of a coincidence.
