Its actually quite sad, when they get kicked out their parents look so disappointed, and you can also see in the kids faces they know their parents are angry... Why do these parents try and live through their kids?

I agree. All because there were more characters and storylines to follow. Ryan's family was the absolute. and Katherine's perfectionism as well. And the kids in S1 seemed more rounded and not just specialists. Or at least knew how to convert their specialties to strengths like how Vanya used her techniques in learning spelling to her advantage.

I was a friend of Claire's in elementary school. I never got to watch her do this show, and I honestly regret it because I knew her parents were harsh, but I didn't realize she was so scared when she came third. I wish I'd been there to comfort her during all that. EDIT: Funny story, I walked into class when our teacher was telling Claire and our friend Nicholas that they were nominated for Child Genius and apparently I wasn't supposed to hear about it, but our teacher than proceeded to tell me that if I had slightly better grades than Nicholas that I would've been nominated instead. Glad I wasn't... this looks crazy.

@@badereric That may not have been the only factor, honestly. Both Claire and Nick are incredibly smart and clever, and they were just as smart and clever in 5th grade. Might've been both of those things, honestly, I like to think I was clever as a kid but more in the terms of being a troublemaker than actually being smart.

The math problem is incorrect. If you do the order of operations, you’d get a number with a remainder. You are supposed to do it like that. You would do 130x5, then 1150/6, then add the results together and then subtract 121 from that.
