Sorry, correct me if i am wrong but the child care expenses are not 100% deductible from your income. You have to enter the amount you paid as day care or child care expenses from the receipt you get from day care in the form T778 and then your deduction is calculated based on factors like age of child, household income etc. Its not dollar per dollar deduction.

Hi Jay, there are a lot of factors that CRA considers while approving tax credit. A qualified accounting professional can explain it better. Here the purpose is to inform that if your kid goes to a Licensed Daycare or an unlicensed daycare which is ready to give the proof of fee (receipts), you can get tax credit on your spending. So always ask for the receipts.

Just a small correction... bus service depends on distance as well as age of child... In my case, my daughter's school is at distance of 1.5km but she is still getting the service because she is 6 years old

Of course public schools here are very good and even they have ratings depending on their results. Private schools have to have something extra for survival as they charge from parents. Still you must always compare a private school with the public schools in your area.

Hi Rakshit, yes, ur daughter can go to public school free of cost...u can claim tax rebate on day care expenses but u won't get daycare subsidy...

Most of the daycares in Ontario have Infant care section which has kids of 6 months of the age and older..

During the break, there are summer and winter camps for the kids where they can stay for full day. For dogs, if they can't stay alone for long, there are daycare for them too.

Hi Shweta, school before and after day care programs are until Grade 6 only....Canada allows kids to stay alone at home after age 12...

There is no free daycares here and I am not sure if any rules r changed now and they r giving subsidy to student visa..as far as I know, u have to be on PR to get subsidy on day care
