Chickens not laying eggs!! Here's what you can do about it.
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Why are my chickens not laying eggs? It can be a very frustrating question. In this video Becky shows you how she dealt with some issues in her chicken coop that were hurting egg production. She also shows you some other things you can look out for that might stop your hens from laying.

hey, how are u doing?
Becky... I just want to say thank you! I have spent DAYS (like all day every day) trying to learn about chickens on YT. I considered myself to be well armed with information until I saw your videos. You really know your stuff lady! Thanks for sharing all the little things us noobs really need to know. :)
PLEASE do not take this wrong, but your videos make me laugh. I love watching your content cause it's real and you leave those funny little moments. Keep up the good work! 👍🏻👍🏻
I like to come and visit this channel because Becky lives in the country and has chickens. I can always learn something from anybody. I just watch and listen make considerations and make my decisions from what I observe from everyone. This is a cool channel I like it.
What a gem! You pointed out stuffs that I need many years to discover.
That's a great idea about putting a backboard behind the roost so they feel secure. I'd also add some extra steps so they don't have to hop up so high- this will be important as they age.
Thank you for the simplicity of explaining about chickens, the clarity in you video and making raising chicken fun not a chore.:)
Howdy Becky, I have been a long time viewer but never commented. Thank you for your channel and the GREAT information!
NICE... Becky knows BEST to her chickens... she is so witty and smart
Luv your nest box totes! When I use 2x4s with chickens I always position the board on its wide side. Up here in N. IL my chickens roost on the flat side of the board and settle down and cover their feet. Keeps their feet nice and warm in winter :) but also its less stress as well! Really enjoy your videos Becky!
You can also paint the inside of the coop with a limewash. We have never had problems in our coops and we freshen it with homemade limewash. It makes the coop look great and keeps the bugs at bay! ~Ranger Hill Honey Farm

That was very helpful. Thank you so much for all that you do for your fellow homesteaders!
I love this video! I used to keep chickens. I miss them. I didn't eat them but I did like watching them do their thing! Mine were free to roam and have fun. It was all fine...until...the MASSACRE.
I built the TOTE boxes that you showed on another video. I noticed that the boxes are more stable and are easier to clean if you flip them upside down. Then, you can just snap off the bottem to clean. Thanks for your videos, Becky. YOU are my pioneer hero and I look foreward to your videos!
What a wonderful cabin you made !!!
Wow! Totally admire YOU Becky....Not just about the chickens, but also your enthusiasm and skills. I really appreciate the way you explain everything, step by step; And you built your own cabin???? OMG! from city chica going country!!!
Love your homestead and great videos! Keep them coming!
Becky, you have a great personality!!!! I enjoy watching your videos. I'm learning a lot about chickens, bees, and gardening, etc. I love animals and being outdoors!!!

Hi Becky, I've learnt a lot from your videos. I just made a video showing my first chickens ever!! I'm so excited about it. Thanks for all your great info.
I am so glad I found your videos Becky look forward to watching them
You are absolutely adorable!!! Your reaction to the acorn had me laughing so hard! LOL! Great Video!
My hens STOPPED laying about 2 months ago. Before it really got cold. I didn't know what to do. I watched how Becky fed her hens and tried it. Still nothing for about 2 weeks. Then. LOL Now I am getting 6-8 eggs a day from my 14 different type hens. Thanks Becky!
A lot of times they won't lay because they are not happy with there nesting, most likely the younger chickens will sleep on the new perch and of course they always need plenty of food ,thanks Becky I knew most of this stuff but I like the video :) thanks Becky
So happy your back with videos. I missed your videos Love your videos very informative.
Becky, I just found your channel and boy am I jealous! If I wasn't a sick lady I think I would do exactly what you are, no, I know I would. Great job on everything!! Love your channel.
You are literally the cutest! I found your videos a few weeks ago when I got my first flock of chickens and I had to subscribe because I keep "consulting Becky" when I have questions hahaha :) Love the videos and I absolutely love your spunky personality!
I'm glad I found your channel! You're so delightful to watch! Thanks for the great tips! :D
Our chickens just would not lay so we talked to the lady that sold us the chickens and she told us to sprinkle some cayenne pepper on their food. It worked perfect and it is now winter and they are still laying. Just wanted to tell you this interesting tidbit.

you shouldn't make your chickens lay in winter. Its not healthy for them. They need a break just like any other animal.IF you notice a tapering off of eggs avoid forcing them back into production. Also lights in the coop at night can trick them into maintaining summer production.

Cayenne definitely worked for me too. I added about a tablespoon to their feed, which holds approx 1 gallon of food.
I just love your youtube channel. I think hgtv or tlc should've made a show about your adventures from the beginning. It would've been a top show.
Enjoying your videos. Will be homesteading soon, and appreciate the information you provide.
I just love you Becky ... You make me chuckle. Chickens have such personalities .... ❤️
I missed living in the country side back in Malaysia. City life really worn me out.
I have watched your many videos and those are very helpful. I have just started backyard chicken coop about few weeks back. Your videos are helped me in many ways. Thanks alot.
Hi Becky ! I absolutely enjoy your videos. I lv your lifestyle and determination to live it. I have also been living on a farm in an RV for 5 years now. I have chickens an think they are the cutest creatures ever. Thank you for you posts Anita
Hey this is a hairstylist, quick tip, you have wavy/curly hair try to never brush your hair when it is dry it just creates frizz. Try to practice wet styling! Oh and I love what you are doing, it’s so inspiring to see a woman who has built her life with her own two hands!
After the intro I immediately had to stop the video and subscribe, amazing! 👏
I Love your videos and what you have done with your life. God Bless You. Would love to see more videos.

Are you having trouble laying eggs, Bill? 🤣 I'm just trying to be funny. 😉
If it were me, I'd (first) install the 2x4 flat side up so the chooks can sleep on their feet, keeping them warmer at night. I'd also replace the branch with a 2x4 for the same reason. I would also (second) install a second feeder instead of increasing the work to be done each week. And (third), I would never, ever use diatomaceous earth anywhere around my chooks. If you read the directions on the DE container, you'll see that you are supposed to wear a mask when handling it. That is to protect you from the possibility of getting a respiratory infection. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Don't use it around your chooks either because it will give them a respiratory infection. You can count on it. I generally like your videos and I am a subscriber but I just had to mention these three things. Thanks for listening.

Great information! I may get a couple of hens this year. :)))
Thanks for the tips! You have a great looking place there. The cabin is awesome!😀
I'm a new subscriber, Becky. I came across your channel when a rooster showed up in my yard and decided he wanted to stay. I grew up with chickens and have always wanted some as an adult but never thought I lived on property that could sustain them. After watching lots of backyard chicken videos, I decided I COULD have chickens on my one acre lot. So I purchased 3 hens for my rooster and am currently building a chicken coop for them and have ordered a large chicken run for them. I'm so excited to be able to have chickens and your videos are very informative and helpful to me as a new chicken owner. Thank you so much for all the effort you put into making your videos to help those like me. I LOVE your channel and your story is so inspiring and admirable.
I have 30 hens all laying well so far away out in Northern Ireland countryside. Great advice Becky love the videos. We have family in Georgia and love the countryside over there to.
You seem to have soo much fun. It makes me appreciate and want to work harder in my large backyard, even though it is in the city. Thanks for your videos

Becky, thank you... I have taken your advice on a lot of things! The way you grow your potatoes... Brilliant..... I've done as you've said and mine are growing better than the five gallon bucket idea or the dog food bag idea! So I'm going to try this with my chickens. And people if you don't like her suggestions (yes suggestions) they are not mandates lol. Then move on but don't be negative.

new subscriber fantastic channel all the best from the UK England
Here in Tipperary,Ireland,we kept Rhode Island Reds. The younger hens were called pullets and ,of course, all were given names! By the way, another way to encourage egg production is to just warn them, unless they up production, they will end up in the oven!!
thanks Becky... much love

thank you Becky you always have great advise 😊
These are great, I have been looking for something like this for years. ty ty ty.
Thank you Becky. I appreciate your videos. Please keep on, keeping on, your video made some valid points, some comments here were valid too, what some folks fail to realize this is a journey. What you know today is different than what you knew last year or the year before and next year God willing you will know even more. Folks should check the time stamps on videos before lashing out, and no sane person is going to take one single video and use it as their only reference. We are community sharing information and it is possible to do that in a caring way. Thanks again for your info. Stay Blessed
Good information! Thanks for posting the video!
