I had a hen. I miss her. She passed away in 1999. She lived a long and happy life. R.I.P. Mandy The Chicken, 1991-1999. I will never forget her.

@@navkrishna1476 That's not how it works. She laid egg #175 this morning. The frequency a chicken lays an egg varies greatly based on breed, but most chickens lay about 4 to 6 eggs per week. That number will decrease as the chicken ages, and it may vary based on health concerns and the time of year. Since chickens are motivated to lay eggs based on sunlight, their egg laying capabilities will decrease in the winter as the days grow shorter. Some hens might stop laying eggs in the winter if the days are too short. However, they will resume in the warmer months.

I have 5 hens and they’re spoiled rotten. I love them to death. I lost one to a hawk but she is a reminder that all life is mortal and precious and that they will all be able to have natural deaths.

I lost one of my hens and I thought she got taken by a fox but then 2 weeks later I found her stuck behind the shed between a piece of tin and there were 12 eggs sitting behind her lol 😂
