Was one of my favourite things to play. Every time we did it. it was different. Great song for jammin...
Jazz is such a spiritual thing. There have been so many great piano trios and this is one of the best. I always feel elevated spiritually when listening to this quality of musicianship.
Rest in peace Chick. I have been watching this concert compulsively the last few days and just heard that he passed. Rest in peace to a true creative giant.

Speechless, amazing piano tone. The intonation on the Bass is amazing . The way Weckle's toms are mic'd is an interesting stereo split

Chick pretty much just gives the middle finger to the melody here, and does whatever he wants, and he does it so well, you wouldn't even think it's green dolphin street, but just another great song

Chick not only was a brilliant soloist, when it came time for the bassist to solo chick did not abandon him. So many bassists [like myself] got abandoned when soloing [the pianist and drummer] would just stop. I had to clear up that little one by saying, I will stop playing when you solo and on more than one occasion had to do it to cure that habit. Chick always keeps the thing flowing... If only I could have been bassist in a band with Dave W. Great drummer... The guys I was always paired to made for poor metronomes.

Oh my gosh, someone I relate to! Why do pianists think it's great to just stop playing during a bass solo, it's one of the most infuriating things...next to a pianist who thinks they need to play the bass line double octave...
@karlrovey

It's one thing to drop a rhythm instrument for a chorus or two to change the texture, but don't completely abandon the soloist.

Mind-blowing blowing over Green Dolphin Street changes. Chick must have listened to a lot of McCoy Tyner the night before. Chick doesn't like to play the melody much. But that's ok, because the majority of his listeners are pro musicians or at least well educated listeners. Incredible music, and fantastic musicians. Bravo!

This is the one of the greatest Jazz Trio's to ever exist. Thank you Chick for making it happen.
Amazing bass solo! Super lyrical and full of creativity. And finally a sound engineer who gives the bass the volume it deserves!
This trio is an example of perfection , a peak unlikely ever to be repeated. They do not play and record as they did , That is why the magic and mystery is alive.

Better than Jarrett? Very different from Jarrett. This is aggressive and it its way, amazing. But still heavy on the showboating. Which comes down to a matter of taste, the musicians', not the listener's. While I enjoyed it, I won't be back soon. Jarrett has technique and is secure in his prowess. I don't need chops rammed down my throat. Maybe they could relax a bit.

What a legend and a legacy he has left! RIP Chic. He was always on another ethereal plane of inspiration,interpretation and now playing on an even higher plane of existence. Between him and many others that have graduated from this earthly tabernacle, they have taught me that music is infinite, and that their style is one of a kind, like your fingerprints and personality. There will never be another Chic Corea, Oscar Peterson, Count Basie,and many others who made a difference in the music world. The right people in the right place at the right time. It's all in piezo pickups and poor amplification. Pickups physically aren't able to capture the true sound of an upright bass, mostly just the sound of the strings. An upright is definitely not supposed to sound like a fretless electric bass, but most upright bass pickups have that sound and the way you eq an amp can make it better or worse. Patituccis tone is amazing when he's not going through a system like this though
