Issy YourBoo yeah but there is something to be said for the winter slowing a lot of stuff down tho. Or at least driving it indoors. I’ve lived on the streets of Chicago and Minneapolis but when I went down to Florida, that was actually scary because the streets do not sleep ever. In January, it’s warm enough to be outside all the time.

Deshawn Brock not sure where you stay joe but I’m born and raised in the chi too and I can vouch for how violent it is first hand growing up in humboldt park, gage park and little village. Whatever crack you smokin, please keep it to yourself, summer time in the chi gets live.

I was lucky to escape the Bronx New York. Back east breakdown.. Three months of winter stuck in your home bored with giant heating bills. Summer.. Three months stuck in your home with giant air-conditioned bills because of 90° humid-sweaty weather. That is six months of every year wasted doing nothing. Autumn is nice but gets cold quick halfway through it and it feels like winter. Spring is nice but it rains a lot so you're stuck in your home again. Back east, is a hell. California, nine months of sun between 75 and 80°. Winter, 60s and not bad at all with only 14 days of rain per year. Go West my friend and live your life to the fullest outdoors.

Actually my wife & I along with our 3 kids miss the seasons as well, I like snow for Thanksgiving & Christmas plus there is a certain beauty preparing for a hurricane or nor'Easter back on the eastcoast....its simple things you miss about back east out here in the west.....also all your American history is on the eastcoast & eastern part of the country Washington DC, Boston Massachusetts, Jamestown Virginia, Williamsburg Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama etc....California use to be Mexico & therefore I guess it's why not much history is here.....I noticed that the eastcoast has a more aggressive energy than California....California is more laid back. Los Angeles & southern California are beautiful but it doesn't have that electrifying energy as NewYork city.

@Alpha Centauri I can lay on the beach all day and the same day drive one hour And 15 minutes to go snow skiing in the mountains. I'm afraid your case for liking nasty weather is for the very few. You'll find this as truth because when you hike in that nasty weather you are the only one out there or one of a few people which likes that weather. California is the most populous state for a reason because we love the 870 miles of coast to have a beer on the beach and watch the sun go down in warm weather. And by the way you don't go hiking everyday in that nasty weather that is maybe once or twice a month you do that if you are honest.

Ferociouzzz , it's hard to read street signs, but he was driving near 63rd and Halsted. Also, 63rd and Racine, when he was driving alleys under the el tracks, coming out at 64th street, at one point. He's really got guts driving around there. Nobody is out much because it's very cold. But a ride out here on a hot summer night would be a suicide trip, for sure.

SinisterMud, that was certainly true 60 or 70 years ago when Englewood had the second busiest shopping center in Chicago (at 63rd and Halsted). Only downtown Chicago was pulling in more money. Englewood also had the world's largest number of Christian Evangelical churches for any urban community. Trust me, back then you could walk any street, any time in total safety. All of that rapidly started to change in the 1950s. It has continually gotten worse each passing year. God only knows when it will actually hit bottom and start to improve.

It’s winter time in the Windy City and I haven’t seen snow seance 2008 when I left Detroit, I see the bus stops are well lit

As a Chicagoen my entire life, I can tell you that the violence here is bad but the media makes it look like Armageddon. It's not. Generally, don't go looking for trouble and you'll never find it (in terms of violent crime at least)

The Villain, that might be true, but we don't want to see him shot, for driving through the "hood" as an outsider. That happened a few years ago. A Chicago alderman was going door to door to meet the people in the district that she was running for office in. Someone thought she was an outsider, didn't like that and shot her in the leg. I believe she survived, though.

Man you have alot of guts driving through those side streets god knows who's lurking there! I'm curious as to whether you drive your own car or whether you hire one once you arrive in the area? If it's your own car, does it have bulletproof windows? Do you worry that people will notice your out of state license plates and target you? Stay safe.

I was born and raised in chicago live on the Southside in the hyde Park areas from 51th and king dr than move over by the lake chicago looks better in the summertime not to say things are bad now people care and the community was family so on your journey be safe and take care
